Put Donna Troy in a bikini
>>153772910Honestly they have tried making them the next Justice League, as well as replacing most of the adult roster with younger characters, and clearly neither has worked. They need somebody like Hickman or Morrison (at their peaks) who can clearly outline what the franchise should be in the 2020s.
>>153772910A threesome between Breast Boy, Raven and Terra.
>>153772910Retire the Titans for a while.ALSO MAKE JASON, ROSE, AND EDDIE MEET AGAIN.
>>153772910Titans is a heavily editorial driven book and has been since the early/mid 90s so it's pretty doomed to be terrible. They also don't want them to outshine the Justice League so they put mid writers on it, though I will say DC thought at the time that Taylor's Titans would smash due to his Nightwing and Brombal's Batgirl seems to at least be considered ok by most of her fans so at least DC's tried to get "good" writers 2/3 of this volume which is probably their biggest push towards the franchise since Johns.Get a decent writer with fresh ideas and reinventions with no wink wink nudge nudge bullshit, ban editorial from forcing their shit ideas on the book, leave it ALONE (ie don't push and pull the book and characters around based on JLers or events), and ban Donna origin/evil Raven/secretly evil member/stupid infighting stories. That right there would give them at least a readable Titans volume.
>>153772949Anon, they are going to retcon how she got that bikini 4 of 5 times and connect it to everything from the New Gods to the Joker's speedo.
>>153772910I'd use the idea of 1999 Titans as a reference point since the first half of that is the last time the book felt fresh and was decent. The fab five chooses two people to join the team, with the catch that one has to be an member that hasn't been on the team in at least five years and the second has to be new to the franchise. ie Jericho & Defacer for Dick, Magenta & Piper for Wally, etc. That way there are at least two popular characters (Dick/Wally), at least 2+ members with cult followings (Roy/Donna/various other members), and some members that are more blank slates (Garth, various other members). And then there are some fresh faces and some old faces get some spotlight, there can be new character interactions and villain possibilities, and the roster is big enough to where they can rotate them out depending on the mission so the book doesn't end up getting stale after 20 issues of the same character interactions. Grayson also understood that the character interactions and personal lives was a big part of what made NTT popular so continue that as well, as the most popular issues of that volume are the fab five talking in a diner for a third of the issue and the fab five interacting while being stranded and harassed by Gargoyle. So DC could and should continue that.
>>153772979titans feel more like a specific group of characters rather than a name that can just be slapped on a bunch of randos, probably why young justice was it's own thing
>>153772910They’re still angled as the “young heroes” when most of them are pushing 30. Stop writing them like it’s a young adult novel. And Raven is too damn old to still be scared of her demon heritage. She’s gotta learn to harness that power. Beastboy still looks like a twink. He should be a massive hairy beastman that can actually fight and take on niggas like Mammoth in his base form. And Cyborg keeps getting Mogged by Mr T and Hardware. He needs to get his money up. They’re all stuck in their middle transformations, and need to hurry up and reach their final forms. Also bring back Bumblebee
no matter what anyone suggests in this thread, its already been tried by DC and didn't work. What DC is doing right now (New Titans for the 20 somethings, Teen Titans for literal teens, cartoon cast as literal teens in out of continuity YA graphic novels plus TTGo comics) is the best chance to try to serve all masters and hope that something sticks
Write good comics.
>>153775267you don't actually mean that because you say that about everything and don't actually read comics
>>153772910Start copying X-Men storylines again. Do the equivalent of House of X/Powers of X.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that they’ve kinda done a shit job at world building. You could move them out of Jump City and it wouldn’t make a difference. Do they even have lives outside of the business? Where are the Jimmy Olsens, or the Aunt Mays that connect them to the real world. Also their team seems pretty loosely structured. They don’t have any Nick Furys or agent Coulsons to interact with, and guide their operations. What I would do is have Cyborg start his own SHIELD type organization. Give them normal people to interact with. The drama will write itself. I would also add Tempest for the Atlantis lore. You could fill entire arcs with underwater shenanigans
>>153777299>You could move them out of Jump City and it wouldn’t make a differenceAnon, the Titans have never been in Jump City in the comics
>>153774222Why does Reddit have such awful taste
>>153772910I'm out of the loop. Can someone give me a rundown on why this issue is so bad?
>>153777299>Jump CityI hate you secondaries so much.
>>153777512Lmao. News to me. That only proves my point further tho. Id retcon it and put them in Jump City then. You can get more creative with fake cities. I’d make it a stereotypical west coast city. Add their own version of like Santa Monica pier, Silicon Valley, In n Out Burger etc. But also add the corruption, the evil tech corporations, the demonic flesh eating celebrities, the crazy street crime. All that shit. The stories write themselves when you have a good grasp of the city’s personality
Titans fans are bitches, just kill this franchise and focus on something else.Maybe give Starfire a book but stop trying with these fucking has beens.
>>153778718>just kill this franchisegreat way to lose money, you should be publisher!
Nightwing x Starfire marriageLean hard into bdsm mommy goth RavenUhh no idea about the others but don't turn Raven evil or bring up Judas Contract
>>153777849I'm pretty sure it's Dick/Starfire fans who hate everything if it isn't their perfect mental image of the relationship
>>153780383Anon, that's bullshit being peddled by a few retards in LOCG who hate NTT and are now salty people are trashing this Titans run as well they thought was gonna save the franchise lol. It's being hated simply because it's a garbage comic lol. Dan Watters had Starfire show up as his ex in Nightwing literally the same day and that comic rates very highly in LOCG.
>>153779228this shit is not making money
>>153772910We're not getting a New Titans or Nightwing story time?
>>153781185Only the absolute titles seem to get consistent storytimes anymore.
Put Donna Troy and Starfire in bikinis
>>153772910Stop hiring faggy, effeminate writers and artists.
>>153780383Brombal just isnt a good comic writer.
>>153774613That's already like 15 characters though, that's a lot for one book that is supposed to be character focusedThere will inevitably some that get the short end of the stickAlso the five year requirement just sounds like a reason to get rid of Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy, ie the characters everyone thinks of when they think of the Teen Titans
>>153781185Nope because dc storytime anon has a serious case of GPU death, and he cant so this for the time being til he gets a new one.Not even aquaman and gl was covered. And it seems tha no one at /co/ will do it because this is a marvelfag outrage board.
>>153781553>>153772949Done. Can Titans succeed now?
>>153775111>no matter what anyone suggests in this thread, its already been tried by DC and didn't work.Just write the Titans (Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Donna Troy and whoever else you want to add to shake up the team) as competent adults who are a found family. No inferiority complex with the JL. No Raven struggling with her demon side. No Cyborg struggling with, well, being a cyborg. No traitors on the team. If you are gonna use Deathstroke or Trigon you need a really good story.Write a story about the Titans fighting, let's say, Despero or Eclipso. Or whoever else that can present a credible threat to the team. Build out a few civilian supporting characters. If you want a team revolving around a new generation of teenage superheroes, use Teen Titans or Young Justice. Titans is only for the Fab Five, NTT and whoever else can fit into that age group (like Supergirl, Kyle Rayner, Miss Martian, etc).Honestly it's not that hard. I'm pretty sure this would work decently fine. DC just needs to provide a baseline and status quo for writers to do solid stories. The Fantastic Four have revolved around the same few characters since the 60s and it doesn't struggle nearly as much as Titans.DC just overthinks this shit and keep diluting the Titans franchise with dumb new rosters and dumb pitches (gimmicks) like Teen Titans Academy or the Titans replacing the JL. I can tell you right now New Titans is gonna flop hard.
>>153780383meanwhile Nightwing 138 came out the same day and showed Brombal and readers that one can respectfully write Dick and Kory IN CHARACTER as exes who still deeply care about each other, respect Kory as a character outside of Dick, and not have them being stupidly raped the umpteenth time for no reason. Also Vic fans are also not really liking Brombal’s run either.Brombal simply just fucked up when he tried to be cute and write terrible satire that insulted the characters to uplift a different cast. He should’ve just had most of the members refer to other shit they would need to deal with to get them off the team and have them volunteer a replacement.
>>153774222They should form their own team.
>>153785087where is that and the other dc storytimes?
>>153785736anon already explained it >>153782011
An adult Titans book will never work. Just go back to making it about teens.
No Nightwing fans wants him to be more tied to Starfire and the Titans when he has been written like shit in Titans books for like 30+ years.
>>153772910Apparently the accusation for the low score is review bombing from shippers
>>153786768That’s just cope from Stephfags and Terrafags who are pissed their big break book is being shit on for shit dialogue and characterization and because Brombal recycling plots with no self awareness (eg he’s shitting on the franchise for repeating plots but is doing the same)
>>153784391Nah. It's a poor man's LoSH.
>>153772979The 2020s are almost over. They should be thinking about the 2030s
>>15377511115 year moratorium on:A Titan Dies!Secret TraitorsTrigon the TerribleDeathstrokeTerraBasically anythng that gives Marv a paycheck except the Titans themselves
>>153786958>cope from Stephfags and Terrafags who are pissed their big break book is being shit onI don't even get why. Both characters will probably be fine in the long term.Terra will likely become a more permanent member of the Titans because DC thinks the original Judas Contract is a bad look and will try to overcorrect. Also, "former enemy now joins the team of heroes" is an easy hook (see: X-Men).Steph is a character directly tied to the almighty Batman. She will always be somewhat prominent now that DiDio is gone. Unless they were hoping New Titans would become a semi-permanent part of her character like the Titans are for Dick or Young Justice is for Tim, but that always unlikely.I would be more worried about Red Devil and Yara Flor. Even Jon Kent, for whom being on the Titans seems like a last-ditch attempt from DC at redeeming the character in the eyes of the audience.
>>153788589Red Devil and Yara don't even have 15 fans together, nobody cares about their bitching and Jonfags on both sides (pro bi -adult and pro 10 year old) are more concerned with Slott's garbage and handwringing about the other Jon being the main Jon.
>>153781677That's why you rotate the cast and do single issues, small arcs, and B/C plots focused on different characters and teamups within the team book instead of making nothing but 6-12 issue arcs. X-Men and LOSH at their peak handled large casts just fine due to that, and even just modern wise 2007 JSA had like 20 main members and while some people got the short end of the stick it was at least readable which is better than Titans for the last 25 years due to having tons of pleasant and endearing character interactions. Like Cyclone was not popular due to being some uber powerful character who defeated the most powerful villain ever and saved the universe. She was popular because her personality shown through and her interactions with Stargirl and the rest of the cast were endearing.Even in examples of just 6 members that anon gave, there's multiple character interactions or friendships that could feel so fresh and new for the book, like Jericho and Piper bonding over shitty parents and mute/deaf, Piper and Defacer bonding over reforming and doing some form of social work/activism, Magenta and Jericho bonding over being comic crazy, etc. Hell if you don't want everybody to just love each other and get along you could make Dick and Piper awkward together and not gel well despite them being best friends with the same guy, Piper not liking that Dick is a billionaire, or Dick being kinda curt over realizing that Piper would be the smart guy on the team.
Post your favorite Titan nobody cares about
>>153790789>is an ocean wizard>evil necromancer uncle>is basically ocean Lancelot>the idea of the Idylists >Tula, Dolphin, and Siren (not Mera's sister)Everybody been bitching about Titans repeating the same storylines when a writer could write an arc with Garth and Titans dealing with some Idylists or Slizzath lmao.
>>153790789Why does DC hate Joey so much...
>>153790956>Tula, Dolphin, and SirenWeren't he and Donna a thing?
>>153791125Only in Waid's Worlds Finest spinoff and that was only because of synergy with the live action show and presumably to add more reason to why Roy likes to shit on Garth
In just a decade, between Abnett, Waid, and Jimenez, Donna went from only having a thing with Roy to having fucked, dated, or at least kissed all the boys in the fab five. It's like Ravager and the Robins. So unnecessary.
>>153793270Jimenez also wanted Donna and Cyborg to be a couple, but his Teen Titans pitch in the late 2000s got rejected by DC.
Comics are dead. Who cares? Just make a cool movie or game.
>>153784786Already been done. Give us something new anon. Also supergirl, Kyle, and Miss Martian are like way above teen age atp.
>>153794399I think anon mentioned those specifically because they're above the teen age range, they're examples of characters who would fit with the older Titans.
>>153777849It isn't, three issues in and New Titans is better than most of the stuff we've gotten over the past decade plus.>>153772910Fans spent years complaining about Titans recycling plots. Brombal comes along, points that out and the same people who complained about repetitive storyline are offended he pointed the stuff they complained about.
>>153794596Except he's also unironically repeating one of Cyborg's stories
>>153786958Terra and Steph are the standouts so far, they'll be fine.
>>153794596>Brombal comes along, points that out and the same people who complained about repetitive storyline are offended he pointed the stuff they complained about.Brombal is just recycling plots himself. His lack of self-awareness is amusing. The Cyborg stuff in these 3 issues is just a rehash of Grid, a rehash of The Technis Imperative and a rehash of what Taylor did with Raven. Even "Cyborg hides a secret from the rest of the team" is something Layman had already done.
>>153794846>Terra and Steph are the standouts so farTerra and Steph are written badly. Priest was right that Terra is a deeply fucked up person and that writing her as a happy-go-lucky heroine would be criminal. Brombal doesn't do that exactly, but he just writes her as a slightly edgier superheroine. (Why is she hanging out with Nightwing at the end of the issue? She tried to kill him twice in recent issues)And honestly if Steph is gonna keep talking about boomers and cringe while Brombal tries to define her by using fandom exposition ("she is not the fastest nor the strongest of the bats, but she is underrated by everybody" is something a fan would say about a fictional character, not any real person when describing another one), she should probably get shot in the face.
>>153795198To be fair, Steph wasn't the only new member talking about boomers and cringe.Terra's characterization is fine, considering the direction Brombal (and DC comics?) wants for her. I feel like there's gonna be a lot of interesting discussion in a few years about who had the better redemption arc, SBP or Terra.
>>153772910Before New Teen Titans, the book was just a poor's man World's Finest with the sidekicks. It was even canceled for 3 years at some point. The reason why the book became popular with the New Teen Titans was because it become Robin's book. People that wanted to read what happened with Dick Grayson went and picked it up.Then Nightwing became part of the Bat-editorial and his stories transformed in Temu Batman stories so the Titans book lost its direction.Like one anon pointed out. The book was always been heavily editorialized and that is the reason why sucks. Probably since Wolfman was stripped of his editorial position and then writing the stories other let him write instead the ones that he wanted.
>>153796553>Then Nightwing became part of the Bat-editorial and his stories transformed in Temu Batman stories so the Titans book lost its direction.Except the book lost direction after Perez left the book. Even with Nightwing, the book was losing a lot of steam. The fact that Dick couldn’t get off the shitshow in time for the Batman renaissance of the early 90s and reap it like Tim Drake did goes to show how much harm it did to him in the long run.
>>153772910Am perfectly ok with this team
>>153796809Nothing says like absolutely washed than having to babysit Titans. Poor Jason.
>>153796723>Except the book lost direction after Perez left the book. You mean after his first leave to draw CoIE and then participate in the WW reboot or the second one? Because I argue that after his return in 1988 the book was already getting bad because at that point DC had already stripped Wolfman of his editorial position and he no longer could edit his own work in the book.
Good writers, less editorial, less rehashing storylines, try to emphasize character interactions and personal lives, push than lesser known villains and beef them up.Personally if I would mash together 12-15 60s-90s members and have it be a rotating roster. Each A plot being 2-4 issues but there being B-D plots in the background, either personal drama for a member or a different villain lurking in the background for later arcs, and each A plot is a member leading part of the team to stop what is a personal villain to them, preferably some C list villain (ie no Slade for Dick or Gar or Trigon for Raven). At Titans heart it's just 5 kids who grew up and made more friends through trials and tribulations and proceeded to grow more with the later friends alongside them. It never had and doesn't really need any big missions statement like JL being the big guns for multiversal threats, SS being criminals being forced to do shit, JSA mentoring younger heroes (+ being related somehow in a lot of cases), etc. So the book doesn't need to be anymore complicated than friends getting together to fight bad guys and dealing with their own personal lives.
>>153772910Teen Titans has never been good.
>>153794399>Already been done. No, it actually hasn't been done, dumbfuck. Every Titans book has them feeling lesser to the JL (despite that not being a thing on Wolfman's run or even the cartoon) or a really poor Trigon/Deathstroke story that lead to poor WOM or some dumb gimmick like Academy or them being the JL that cannot last.
>>153794298I rather see Cyborg with Bumblebee
>>153794298>got rejectedGood. Last thing she needs is even more love interests
>>153772910It's too late. Goodwill is gone.
>>153795198Priest is a fucking hypocrite retard who wanks slade and hates super hero marriage, also he being ok with quesada and didio.
>>153801755She is married anon.
>>153806322nah, he good
>people want to read about the Teen Titans characters because of how popular the cartoon is>they look at what comics to read them in>they are stuck picking between 40 year old NTT stories that are very dated or reading random runs with them as 30 year olds where they are nothing like their cartoon versionsThat is the problem. The most popular version of the characters don't exist in comic form anywhere. So the entire franchise is completely broken.
>>153810037That's if they even have the popular characters from the cartoon in the comic in the first place.I remember checking out New 52 Teen Titans as a kid when I started reading comics due to the cartoon (I mostly read Marvel back then), and dropping it immediately because "who the fuck are those guys?".
Taking away the most popular Titans characters out of the Titans is an inherently stupid idea that only hurts the franchise long-term.You don't see people advocating for Wolverine, Cyclops and Storm to leave the X-Men. You don't see people advocating for Iron Man, Captain America and Thor to leave the Avengers. You don't see people advocating for Reed, Sue. Johnny and Ben to leave the F4. You don't see people advocating for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to leave the JL (okay, maybe this one happens but DC ignores them).Yet with Titans people do it all the time and DC tried it. And none of the new rosters even stick. Even with the most successful attempt (Johns' Teen Titans), none of the YJ4 have starred in a Titans book for over a decade.
>>153811469Sorry, Nightwing is a character from the Batverse and needs to do his schtick of great value Batman in not-Gotham. In the meanwhile we can toss a story about him getting in a disagreement with Bruce.
>>153784391That was a JL comic though
>>153772910Majority of the low ratings come from salty shippers though
Static's joining the New Titans.
>>153816049It's still going to be shit.>>153811469Nobody seems to get this. We saw how poorly ANAD Avengers did. Because who wants Great Value versions of the greatest heroes when the originals are right there. But DC still tries it.
>>153817579Three issue in and New Titans is good without Static. It will become better with him.
>>153796938Jason Todd deserves it, one job don't make daddy batman a hypocrite with your violent gun tooting
>>153772910Literally just follow the tried-and-true Wolfman/Perez formula. That's pretty much all you have to do. The only thing that needs to change is the main characters - make it Tim, Conner, Yara, Stephanie, and so on - and removing Dick, Vic, Wally, Donna, Rachel, and the others from the Titans by promoting them to full Justice League membership. Also, create some new villains instead of Deathstroke and Trigon. Some other suggestions are to embrace the manga way and make the series a three issues monthly book just like ASM during Brand New Day, and soon after the relaunch, maybe half a year or so, make a cartoon that closely follows the comic book, just like anime does manga, an if soon there isn't enough source material, maybe create some filler arcs. Also, use the best artists available, ideally, it should be someone like prime Jim Lee, not Mora or the likes of him, we need some truly great art by the most talented pencillers in this series. And hire someone on the level of Jonathan Hickman or even better, who could write this book for 10+ years straight. That's the whole recipe.
>>153817839The book is dogshit and Static is not lasting in Titans for more than an arc, anon. It's just a sales stunt.
