One of the worse parts of owl house is lack of world building

Reminder that Phil's basically lived in witchland since he was like 5. Dude hasn't even read a Bible and probably forgot there is such a thing. He just knows "witch hunter" as a children's game and takes it far too seriously.
Caleb probably did know some actual scripture, though.

Phillip was giga based, but his plan was retarded

The Draining Spell should have been about sealing off Earth from other planes like the Demon Realm. Genociding a continent of witches is heroic, but it doesn't solve the problem. Eventually more witches might try to get through.
The Day of Unity should have been his attempt to prevent the portal doors from being able to work. This would also protect Earth from threats like Amphibia and Bill Cypher.
Sure, part of his canon plan hinged upon warning humanity once he returned, but then what?

What do you think a proud 16th century Puritan would find worse about Luz? The fact that she is a witch, or the fact that, as a Dominican, she is most likely Catholic?

Nowadays, writers treat every single setting as though they're from a 21st century californian coast city, and the characters like they've come from one.

That was one hundred percent intentional. He's very much a parallel to Luz in that he saw himself as the hero and the Boiling Isles as a chance to live out his dream, it's just that his dream was killing all the witches as opposed to Luz wanting to be a YA fantasy novel protagonist.

>Phillip and Belos have completely different VAs, faces, personalities, and backgrounds in season 1
>Belos is elaborately themed to be artificial by his eyes resembling the strangely artificial guardian in the King episode. His nose was supposed to be different from Phillip. His magic staff was artificial. His body is of wood like the talisman he eats.
>Phillip stumbled upon the islands as a genuinely mysterious adventurer that actually saw them as a place to research, study, and understand. He even fucking published it as a book in the isles.
Phillip and Belos were clearly not meant to be the same person.
At best, Belos was supposed to be Phillip’s son, a grim walker with the artificial eyes. And then separated from Phillip’s family after some tragedy to end up being a mad man synching up with a monster King’s father fought in the ancient mural.

Long long ago in a site called that goy with the glasses a feminist character "Nostalgia Chick" held a vote for top 10 hottest animated guys, despite never having been mentioned by her in the original video Frollo (the disney version) made it to top 10, 8th place if I remember correctly, much to her dismay.
I assume that's why.

>He just knows "witch hunter" as a children's game and takes it far too seriously.
I was disappointed that they never really explored this aspect of Belos' character more in depth. He's a colonial era manchild living out his toddler power fantasy. He resurrects his brother so that they can "play witch hunter" together like they did when they were kids. And a detail in Hollow Mind is when we see the Inner Belos that represents him as a child he's wearing a version of the mask he still wears as emperor, like he never grew up.

I really thought where they were going w/ this was drawing a parallel between they were gonna draw a parallel between him and Luz. After all she went to Boiling Isles so that she could live out her fantasy of being a witch just like Good Witch Azura. And that TOH's ultimate lesson would be "you need to let go of childish escapist fantasies and grow up". But no

Good

Making her into a devoted unwilling fucktoy with dark whispers that linger at the edge of her mind and twist her imagination and dreams and talented initially unwanted caresses of her sensitive unknowing needy body will be fun. My massive cock and larger toned body flashed to her in erotic dreams lust built that cant be fullfilled with her stumbling fingers or her lesbian lovers earnest care.

That literally makes no sense. Phillip as we known him was implied to come to the islands was curious young man while Belos in the entirely of season 1 and beyond focused on despising wild magic (which Philip Belos doesn’t for some reason) and trying to keep it tamed down. He was 100% synched up to the titan’s heart in his intro scene. Scrapped animatics showcased the day of unity being about transporting the body to earth and having it come back to life.

Belos spent centuries trying to put stability and order to the Isles, which in the original drafts of the show was supposed to be an absolutely wild and savage place that arguably did need Belos to have a civilized society. Phillip Belos has no reason to keep running this society and making sure its population is following his principles and ideas. Much less, he would hate all magic but season 1 Belos exclusively ranted about wild magic and only wild magic. His populations agreed with him on these matters and already did let him mark them and their children for centuries. To which he doesn’t take advantage of for centuries for some reason. And his whole coven order is literally based on making a functional body.

Not to mention, Belos is supposed to be a Lich by his archetypal necromancy going on and is filled by whatever makes the talismans alive. His body is literally wood and the talismans are literally wooden animated creatures. He literally has his own nose and so they shove in the explanation to it by fucking attacking Phillip’s nose and have it be permanently deformed for some reason despite the resources Phillip has.

Nothing about Phillip Belos makes any sense. It contradicts both characters with contradictory lores and character designs. Belos being Phillip’s grim walker son would’ve been much better and better paralleled him with Luz because he would’ve wanted to see earth, what would be a mere fantasy land in Phillip’s stories.

They kind of kept the theme with the Collector (and King), maybe something they were hoping to do with Kid Belos was repurposed to make that S3 plot work.

Nta but wasn’t the implication eating palismans for power cursed him?

>>153799361
>Phillip Belos has no reason to keep running this society
Without the Door, Philip would not be able to leave the BI, so he had sit around and play emperor until he found and recovered it. And then when he did, the damn thing was broken. If he had killed everyone before then, he'd have to do that all on is own.

I'd would have liked it better if we'd gotten the full story, but the version we got works, kinda.
