Then, the giant-size spectacular continues with special anniversary stories by an unprecedented lineup of renowned creators from legendary Spider-Man creators and modern superstars to surprise contributors! The talent includes the likes of John Romita Jr., Frank Miller, Peach Momoko, Stuart Immonen, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Patrick Gleason, Marcos Martin and, making his Marvel Comics debut, screenwriter Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth)!
>Further details will be revealed in the weeks ahead, but today fans can check out John Romita Jr.’s main cover, which unites the iconic Spidey artist with acclaimed artist Paolo Rivera for the first time, along with a variant cover by Pepe Larraz that teases the debut of the new super villain, Ravage!>Spider-Man faces his greatest fear and his most frightening new villain in decades. Who is this Ravage? And how will his history-shattering power force Peter to question his very legacy? It’s one of Spider-Man’s most personal battles to date, and one that will shape his path for the next 1,000 issues!>“Writing Amazing Spider-Man #1000 has stirred up a lot of emotions for me, but gratitude is chief among them,” Kelly shared. “It's a true honor to have the opportunity to contribute to Spidey's legacy with a huge milestone like this. And special bonus - we get to introduce a new villain?! Amazing. Ravage is layered and complex and mysterious, and I can't wait to unleash him on the readers with this monumental issue!”>Pre-order your copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 at your local comic shop and stay tuned in the weeks ahead for more talent and story reveals!SOURCE:https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/amazing-spider-man-1000-presents-the-biggest-issue-in-spider-history

How exactly does time work in marvel comics? spider-man started in like the 60s but the comics today take place in the modern world, so how does that work? why isn't peter parker old now? how can there still be more comics with no ending?

>>153775301>Special anniversary storiesThey know cunts hate shit being padded with anthologies that go nowhere and mean nothing, and they keep doing it.This isn't like Slott where you can find normies who like his work but there's a strong core who hate him; audiences have UNIVERSALLY shit on the weak, shitty padding they've put in oversized/anniversary books for well over a decade at this point. Especially shit like 900 - that was fucking tragic.Anthologies only work when a story can matter to the characters involved, which typically mean standalones where characters won't return (I do still love Heavy Metal magazine). What audiences wanted from this was simple; A big issue that's ONE STORY (no faggot-tier anthologies), events that will be pivotal to the character (at least for a few years), ideally readable as a standalone whilst the climax of prior plot-points (not necessary, but a bonus), and ONE artist. Actually shell out for a CURRENT, big name, wide-appeal artist to do the book, someone like Greg Capullo (it's not about if you personally like him, it's about generic, normie appeal), or even someone like Bagley because of his ties to the character (JRJR is old and hasn't been good since the early 00's, let the poor cunt retire). This is/was the easiest layup in the world, and they're too incompetent to plan a few months in advance to do it right. These are the bare minimum to a good issue. They've done good anniversary issues before; 200, 300, 400, 500, and even 600. Shit, even 700 and 800 fit these criteria well enough (I've met a number of Slott haters who liked 800 well enough). Things are genuinely, actively deteriorating, and I don't know how or why.
>>153790507>Things are genuinely, actively deteriorating, and I don't know how or why.Lowe editorial standards. I mean look at the fucking cover, how does this look like a good cover for the 1000th issue?

I've always wanted to ask this question, but I don't want to create a new thread just for it.How many of you have read every issue of a popular superhero comic book series? I'm talking about characters that have been around for decades, shuch as Spider-Man and Superman.
>>153794574When you say "every issue" what do you mean? Because I've read every issue of Amazing Spider-Man (barring a handful of annuals) but I haven't read every appearance of the character
>>153794612I guess I was referring to your situation. It's more realistic to assume that someone has read every issue of a comic book series, plus a few miniseries featuring the same characters, than to assume that they've read every single appearance of a character.

>>153795533Fargo was borrowed success of the Coen Brothers, thats why the first season was ok. Season 2 may be the only decent thing he has produced becuase he stopped borrowing. But then... the show grew uneven across seasons, especially the overstuffed preachy Season 4, and Legion prioritized style over a followable, emotionally grounded narrative which is what makes x-men/ mutants interesting. Not mutation as metaphor for mental illness.Does that makesense, Noah? Anything else? Do you need me to wipe your ass as well? Stop making content slop for tv Noah. It's not like stakes in Spider Man stories matter anymore, for anyone wanting to see grown up version of 616 Spider Man , this is never going to happen in main continuity and OMD is proof of that
>>153775536All of the main important stuff happened in the last ten years or so. If the status quo has to change, then the timeline gets more compressed. Cap was unfrozen about ten years ago, at the dawn of the timescale. Peter became spider-man about eight years ago ever since he evolved from [teen] to [adult] and Miles was introduced as the new [teen] age hero. Ironman and Punisher were involved in The War. That war changes often. It was WW2, then Vietnam, and now Iraq. Marvel tried to establish their own fake war to fit every character's everyone's The War, like how they use fictional countries, but everyone hated that.
>>153796586>>153796609>>153796678There are actual people on twitter trying to defend that cover by going "oh why are people mad about a cover that's done by JRJR and Paolo Rivera". This is a bland pose by JRJR who usually does way better. I don't know how Lowe accepted this. Is he trying to see if variant collectors will buy any kind of cover regardless of quality? Rivera can only do so much to make this look good. Is this cover just a small fragment of a larger cover or something? It doesn't explain why the character is posed in a way that comes off low energy and symmetrical. It's like you could make this a MAD Magazine cover and change Spider-Man's head with Alfred E. Neuman's head and some other light modifications

>>153795716Not that anon, but I've had a gut feeling they're killing her or ascending her to the throne of Queen in Black somewhere in space, because Lowe and co. don't know what to do with her or want to write her. Relegating her to a role like Nick Fury Sr., where she's never seen outside of the briefest cameos in random books, would be the perfect way to keep her away from Peter while trying to deflect backlash, since she wouldn't *really* be permanently gone. And could still be on variant covers galore. Whether they send her off or kill her, it gives Peter more reason to mope, which is seemingly all they want to write... mopey broke single man.

>>153804474The death of Reed Richards by venom's hands oh yeah the are stupid enough to do something like that. But don't worry susan will find a way to bring him back eventually in about 5-10 years that is.
ASM isn't currently bad. But it does feel mediocre. I welcome mediocre after Wells but I don't know man. I can't get excited for the same creative teams that have failed the book for two decades. Maybe the tv writer will save us It's why Ultimate was good. Even with trash writing, it was fresh

>>153804925>ASM isn't currently bad.Actually it is all honesty the last issue was so bad that it was pracitally unreadable what a mess.
>>153804925Shove it, Kelly.
>>153804925The main issue is that we are never allowed to forget about Wells for long. I'm okay with Peter space adventures. I'm with Norman trying to be Spidey in some fucked up way of trying to do right by Peter. But holy shit, Death Spiral takes right out. Fucking slog event that's just there to remind you Paul exists and kill him.

>>153804323#999 will be a fucking oc donut steel nuGwen issue

>>153808334
and now let'sd take a look ast the marriages which did work shall we you lose again marvel fans.
>>153807850>"Muh Gwen" faggotry.She's dead, forever.
>>153808346Hey Mephisto, can I fuck your son?
If Mephisto is killed, would he be buried as a christian too?
>>153808383>Hey Mephisto, can I fuck your son?>I have no son
>>153795716NTA but best way to wash her out is to kill the current one now and either make the twist that it was actually a clone all along with the real MJ in some pod or have her be reborn without any memory of the last few years.
>>153808402Yes. He is the closest to the Christian understanding of devil. Even Satan is just a pagan god in disguise.
>>153808376Woah I didn't know that gwenschizo was into yuri
>>153808381she will back someday as will the orginal captain marvel they all come back soon or later jason todd is the best example of this.
>>153808448>Gwenschizo is also a Marv trutherEven more reason to dislike him
>>153808464Doesn't Carol consider that alien invader important or something?
>>153808255This is Marvel we’re talking about, they’ve turned plenty of heroes into villains. Don’t you remember what happened to Ben Reilly and Phil Urich? Heck, they even turned Peter into a villain twice during the last run.
>>153808430What about Victor? Why did nobody bury him and if he could be buried, would he be buried as a christian too?
>>153808376all joking aside superman and lois are still happily married to each other to this day now how's that for true love
>>153808479I don't think it work with Spider-Gwen already tried making her a villain once. besides her fanbase is way for too big for them to permanently turn into a villain. Just to be clear I don't like her at all and I would love if they got rid of her for good but sadly they will never do that,
>>153808492Presumably. I think another story established that Doctor Doom is God.
>>153796678
>>153793695What is the public perception of Spider-Man comics?
Marvel's website and the wiki both list #500-700 under volume 2 for ASM, but I could've sworn they used be under volume 1. Was that changed or am i schizo
Do you think norman prefers Jinx or Gwen?
>>153808920They've always been vol 2, but because it uses the legacy numbers from 500 onwards some places counted it as vol 1. RCO is one of those places
>>153808957Do you think norman prefers Jinx or Gwen?
>>153808918Comics aren't very popular so normies don't have any opinion on asm. And even if they are familiar from someplace like youtube their opinions don't have any sway because they don't buy issues anyways
>>153808960Thank you anon
>>153808690>another story established that Doctor Doom is GodWho would view him as such? His mom went naked in front of Mephisto and she's still dead to this day.
>>153808278>>153808293>>153808334Polish IP detected. Check his harddrive for CP.
>>153808448>Original Captain MarvelThat's not Billy Batson.
>>153808617>fanbase is way too big>can't sell enough to keep an on-going Are you sure about that?
>>153775301>Bendis>Slott>JRJR>Alien Earth writerHow does Marvel keep fucking things up. He's the most popular character EVER and they still make every wrong move. How can they even recover from all of this outside of a hard reboot?
I wonder if JRJR accepts low pay or just works fast as fuck, how does he get so much work
>>153809471It's the later, he calls his own art style "deadline style" Not sure why you would do that for a cover though.
Sincere question, how many of us do you think are still in these threads? Since IP tracking is done, the best I can do is guess. I know there's a few people like Gwenschizo, who are apparent, SheVenoMJ anon, who is open about it. I'm guessing there's something like 10-15 of us just going back and forth on a regular basis, and others jump in from time to time.
>>153809994I think Spidey is a big enough character to attract a decent size crowd. Probably 30ish
>>153809994There's definitely a lot of spam, but even if we're not many posters it's not a Spider-Man problem. It's a 4chan thing, just check 4stats. But anons always talk about that in every board nowadays so I think that it's a topic that we've already covered a lot. Unless you are in a fotm thread, or in a fandom so autistic that's even attracting outsider here, you won't see a lot of traffic
>>153809994Why did hiroshimoot remove IP tracking anyway, only astroturfing faggots gain from that
What is it with comics and just putting a bunch of floating heads on covers? I always thought that shit looked kinda dumb.
>>153810264 BIG CHEESE [/spoiler
>>153809258I think everyone knows it's on editorial at this point along with Marvel having trouble with money
>>153810326they might have less money trouble if they wrote better comics
>>153810310That's a skill issue on your part
>>153810310Sometimes you get kino>>153803711
>>153810342Imagine how hard they had to try and fuck up the momentum they had from the movies. The entire world has their eyes on your company and IPs and you do absolutely nothing with the new found attention or popularity
>>153810326What the fuck was Lowe thinking when he did Wells run? Beyond was beyond shit already, give it to some cuck with a failing marriage so he could project the failure on Spider-Man?Zeb Wells destroyed the brand and yet they hire him still, tells you a lot about Marvel.
>>153775301he looks like a fuckin chimp.
>>153811301I wouldn't put Spencer down as one of the all time greats but it's insane how they seemed to go out of the way to burn down everything he built.
>>153811301I don't know the first thing about what goes on in editorial, but Lowe strikes me as someone who sits back and lets writers do whatever they want until his superiors start complaining. He gave Slott the go-ahead for The Clone Conspiracy after Wacker repeatedly said no.
>>153808957Didn't his thing with Gwen turn out to be Mysterio or some bullshit?
>>153810342Yeah you'd think that, but I'm getting convinced that these guys in editorial either don't remember how to do a story or fell for the sunk cost fallacy
>>153812234yep
>>153812460Gwen would be cuter if she actually looked like this>top rightcursed>bottom right canon
>>153812567Ditko Gwen doesn't deserve to be mysterio, she was replaced when Lee Romita Gwen came in. That was when Mysterio started pretending to be Gwen
>>153812883Also Betty Brant and Ned Leeds. ASM 39 was very OOC
>>153794264YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
