From his Instagram>A while back, CN asked me to pitch them a reboot of Chowder for a slightly younger audience (for free of course). I re-imagined it so that instead of a catering company, Chowder went to a culinary school with Panini and Gorgonzola. All the other familiar faces are faculty there, but the stories focus more on the three kids getting into trouble. Sadly, CN said they had no money to make it, so it never went anywhere. I'll post some of the fun art I did for it here.
>>153778484>CN said they had no money to make itGiven how most of RS:LT's animation turned out, I believe them.
God this sounds awful. Anyway post the art OP.
>>153778484What happened to their parents? Chowder lives with Mung and Truffles.
Why didn't they just wash more cars?
>>153778484Good this show is shit. Always hated it even back then. Chowder is a retarded ugly obese sack of shit who Scream Talks way too much making him annoying. And Truffles has got to be Tara Strong's most annoying voice because that cunt makes ears bleed with her insufferable voice. And that pink bitch? Annoying unrealtic trash about how she worships Chowder because he's stupid and obese, talk about wish fulfillment for beta loser shit heads.Shit cartoon that won't be missed. Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.
>>153778550This is the only piece so far, I assume he will post more In the coming days.
>>153778582I was surprised chowder's VA was a little fat kid irl
What the fuck was CN’s problem? Why did they suddenly pivot to preschool shit so hard?I’m confused because every other company in the world keeps whining and bitching that young people aren’t having kids, but CN would have you believe there’s 10 billion new kindergarteners that need entertaining by how hard they pushed for younger-focused stuff. Also rebooting a cartoon for 4 year olds always seemed like such a fruitless move. 4 year olds do not give a shit about legacy cartoons from 20 years ago. They don’t even know there was a time before they existed. And adults don’t care if something they watched as a kid is rebooted for a “2+2=4” audience. Just make new shows for little kids?
>>153778821Because animation is dying in the west. Remember animation is strictly for kids. This stigma has NOT died in the west.
>>153778484>series finale ends with Chowder growing up and becoming the new head chef af Mung's Catering>reset it all with a rebootWhat's the point?
>>153778616You're wrong. Show was ahead of its time
>>153781370>I watch Chowder for the plot
>>153778484>Chowder BUT FOR SMALLER CHILDRENWe avoided a disaster.
>>153778616Stfu, fag
>>153778821>>153778907To sell toys. It's not that "animation is for kids", it's that "animation for kids makes us more money".>>153781627Not sure how they could get away with that short of making them babies, honestly.
>>153778821Chowder wasn’t a preschool show
>>153778821My own guess? Parents who are limiting screen time are ultimately forced to give in as phones become essentials to a child's life, integrated into everything from their social groups to their schooling. So pre-school is the golden market for kids with responsible parents and the window where you can get the most eyes since they're perhaps the only group without their own phones
>>153778907>west*United States
>>153778484>ask someone to pitch a cartoon to you>"oh we don't have the money to make it anyways :)"why ask for a pitch then?
>>153782035Where are Europe's mavericks in animation? Are we really going to pretend like reheating Totally Spies and Ladybug for the umpteenth time is some how a grand cultural victory? At this point Australia's doing most of the heavy lifting in this field considering how big Bluey's been.
>>153778484At least this proves that Chowder is considered a legacy IP for Cartoon Network. You don't see Juniper Lee, Puffy AmiYumi, Camp Lazlo, Squirrel Boy or Gym Partner Monkey ever coming back or referenced much.
>>153778484I appreciate Greenblatt coming clean about this. Always had the impression Warner undervalued Chowder as an IP, and now we have it confirmed.
>>153782244Because they probably wanted some basic-ass zero-effort garbage-tier baby babble shit with no animation.I can't imagine Carl would've put in THAT little effort, that's too little for anyone with any sense of self, so his project probably would've cost 10x more than whatever CN picked.
>>153778484They should've done a sequel series where Chowder is in chefs University to appeal to the 20-somethings
>>153778821Preschool content does extremely well for Disney, Nick, Netflix, and YouTube. The most popular kids IPs of the 2020s (Bluey, Cocomelon, Spidey and his Amazing Friends) are all preschool shows. WB wanted a piece of that pie and the only way they could do it was through CN
>>153782968Painini looks like THAT?
>>153782968nag panini looks like this
>>153783991I've seen worse humanizations, Anon. This one's actually clever, although human Chowder needs to be a lot fatter.
>>153782968Why does Panini got all that ass? Guess working with Endive have some side effects.
I still really want Chowder ball Z
>>153778484Poor Greenblatt... And that probably wasn't the ONLY show pitch he had at the ready
>>153782968this is so cute
>>153778484>I'll post some of the fun artWhere is it?
>>153786761What if Chowder was a battle food anime.
>>153786914Chowder Shippuden
>>153778484where did the money go?
Still the best fourth wall break.
>>153794551The money went to the fifth Adventure Time spin-off
>>153786914didn't he also have a truckload of children with Panini?
>>153778484Where's the art Greenblatt!?
>>1537785671. Chowder is an orphan boy whom Mung adopted.Or2. Mung bought Chowder from his parents to be his apprentice.
>>153786761Holy cow tits
>>153778567as a kid i thought this was chowder's father visiting for the holidays and was so confused why he didn't show up for the rest of the episode
did they make Chowder toys?
Greenblatt posted more development art, I assume he will do it everyday from now on. This was all done around 2024, after he had finished up on Jellystone.
End of now.
>>153787912He really can't catch a break, can he? He deserves so much more for being one of the driving forces behind Spongebob
>>153802640He retuned to Spongebob recently, pretty weird considering how badly Nickelodeon treated him.
>>153802960He needs to eat.
>>153778821It's a strange choice that they always seemed way behind on the times on. They started it nearing six or so years ago and then ended it about a year or so ago so now they have this weird bunch of programming they aren't airing anywhere and a few shows still to come that have nowhere to go. Like that Fosters preschool reboot. It's stupid as fuck. Especially when they not long into it realized there was more to be gained in revisiting Regular Show and some of their other PG shows.
>>153781370Chowder undoes it himself in the end anyways so it didn't matter.
>>153781370You guys really need to stop treating these drawings like they're real people.
>>153781370in the finale Young Chowder appears and yells at the Future ones swearing to never grow into them. And then in the aftercredits Chowder wakes up and says it was all a dream he had while asleep.
>>153778484No Flapjack reboot?
>>153802560if the best he can do are storyboard drawings of his characters and no new design or anything yeah I can see why CN doesn't want this
>>153807720GOOD
>>153808470>I can see why CN doesn't want thisNot everything needs unnecessary design changes and subversions. This is exactly why the industry sucks now in addition to political midwits
>Fosters home, but for preschoolers>chowder, but for preschoolersWhat is CN's obsession with this shit
>>153805784>continuity & consistency doesn’t matter if it’s 2DYour exact mentality is why this industry is in free fall. If more people started treating their shows as if the characters in them are real people then we wouldn’t have shitty shows that fail & bankrupt the network from poor decision making alone. Your attitude is nothing more than a poorly conceived excuse for failure, and it boggles the mind as to why you’re even on the comics & cartoons board if it’s a topic you have so little investment in.
>>153808607Previous CN president before the Discovery merger was trying to turn CN into a more family oriented channel and that included producing preschool stuff to balance out the family and adult stuff. Also, preschool media is potentially very lucrative, and CN had been missing out.
>>153808529sure, but him not doing that is exactly why they chose fosters and ppg to get rebooted and not this
>>153802960Did he do anything new besides storyboarding the 3D short?
>>153802617hahah, this is a funny expression drawing
>>153796449That he did.
>>153778484Neat!
>>153778808Did he get to suck Tara's milkers?
>>153812076Shut yer trap. Tired of cheerful anons such as yourself. This is a place of misery, so be miserable.
>>153812420woah i didn't know lucius heinous the 7th posted on /co/
>>153778484What's with CN exclusively looking to reboot their old hits "for younger audiences" now? They don't need to try pushing the censors with TV-PG series again, but even the OG Cartoon Cartoons were allowed a little bit of edge. I also don't like that they approached one of their veteran showrunners to revisit his old work instead of looking to see if he had any Original pitches ready. NOT a fan of this direction they're going in...
Come up with plots /co/
come back folks, new art in a few hours.
>>153807720Too gross and scary, probably.
