Now that it’s no longer the flavor of the month, we can all agree that no one is going to remember or talk about it in more than a year, right?
>>153796307Oh yeah. Not enough episodes to do that.
>>153796307better last episode than TADC.
>>153796307It was forcibly reverted back to cult status, where it shall remain
>>153796403as is tradition for most adult swim originals.
It was fantastic, but I have to agree with >>153796332
>>153796307This was the last good cartoon. What is even left?
>>153796539You clowns
>>153796332I love Smiling Friends but I have to agree.Episodic comedies rely on sheer quantity in order to stay relevant. SF couldn't reach a single classic SpongeBob season worth of episodes, thus there isn't much material for people to talk about like SB or The Simpsons. It feels closer to a good cartoon pilot that never got picked up right now, the potential was never exploded.
>>153796307How exactly do you end up flavor of the month for several years? That's like, flavor of 36 months at least.
>>153797132I don't see anybody sharing clips or quoting it anymore because it's no longer popular. Also, straight up nobody was talking about it during the breaks between seasons.
>>153796307expect the "smiling friends was the last good cartoon" video essays soon
>>153796307>inb4 getting an Emmy
>>153800322[Spoiler] It was through [Spoiler]
I knew that by season 2.This shit won't resonate in people's minds the way ATHF or SG:C2C did because there was no memorable writing, just the occasional sight gag (that was usually something they'd already done in a previous episode)I do hope that Michael and Zach collaborate on another cartoon and take some lessons from SF to make improvements, because realistic awkward dialogue being the joke for the umpteenth time really showed how little they had to work with.
>>153796307It'll go the way of Duckman, fondly remembered show that slowly morphs into a time capsule for its era. Generally liked by those that know about it but invites very little discussion and is mostly only remembered by animation enthusiasts.
It's already forgotten. I've noticed a sharp downtick in Dolly goonerposting. It's over. But that's what Zach wanted. To go out, either with a bang or a whimper, didn't matter. As long as it didn't become a zombie like the Simpsons.
>>153796307Jesus christ you faggots are lame lmao
>>153806167It’s public knowledge now that Zach was fired for trying to “haha unless” antisemitism and race war rhetoric into the show.
>>153806306Guess that's why he didn't want a zombie series.
>>153804254tons of jokes in the show were just bits that were improved on oneyplays. Zach kinda ran out of memorable bits and had to rely on actually writing jokes instead of repeating old ones.
christ, was it that exhausting to make 10 minute episodes?
>>153806139>broooSatan order le Uber Eats NO WAY BRO xDDD my sides brooo this is a GEM so funny ICONIC
>>153806370I don't see why they couldn't just let adult swim keep making it in house and they just provide voice acting instead of writing and producing. sure it wouldn't have been as good, but people would still watch it.
I am actually happy that Shareholders are triggered enough to make threads like these.
