After getting over the shock of the tranny stuff, I don't hate the ending that much. I think it resolved just fine. I still enjoy the show overall, but Jax could have definitely been written better. There was no reason to make him some irredeemable asshole, especially when he's absolutely fine and friends with everyone in the real world.

Alright, I've had time to double watch the ending, and something is seriously bugging me about the raw logic of the survival situation they found themselves in. Imagine you're anyone else than Jax, and you all agreed to not ditch this guy, he's basically a suicide risk. We see this in episode 8, they all offer a hand back in, knowing that he puts up walls. Why did they take his little crash out seriously? Why didn't gangle or pomni just tell him to pipe down and get over himself? They basically already saw through his mask already and committed to him. Suddenly though, when the stakes are higher, and they have 0 answer to what to do if Jax abstracts, they leave him alone after all of that? They have 5 people, and they couldn't assign one person to make sure he didn't spiral out? Abstracting has heavy suicide themes, and not once, did they assign a watchman to him?

I'll still go watch it in theatres, most likely. It was still rushed, and there were some baffling choices (Jax abstracting off-screen, Caine's return out of nowhere, etc.) but god this episode did it. It actually made me care about Pomni and Jax in a way the other episodes didn't beyond "they're funny." The scenes showing Jax's descent into madness, the portrayal of suicide and depression and how it can poison your friendships and relationships (it's very refreshing to see a show that is willing to show that sometimes things end badly, even when you're surrounded by people that care). But it does so while maintaining a hopeful tone throughout it all that felt... kind of earned?Definitely not the perfect episode, but it's definitely my favorite TADC episode out of them all. I wish the show had been a little bit more focused with its writing at times, it would have made this finale hit a lot harder I think.

Fuck it, here's an OC. His name is Kaijacques. (I considered Kaijohn and Kaijosh, but the French name adds to the critic thing) He's pompous, generally nice but a little too self-aggrandizing at times. He fashions himself a critic, and he gives in-depth reviews of every adventure after he's done. In his room, he likes to make paintings, amateur films, and he also has a massive, self-repairing city diorama that he enjoys smashing for fun. Some circus members have claimed Kaijacques can breathe fire, but he's just very self-conscious about it.
