Fuck it I’ll say it: They shouldn’t have rushed for an early June release with this.They needed a few more months of production time for the last act as it is like 2 episodes worth of animation atop of episode 8, glitch jumped the gun hard with their movie theatre stunt and gooseworx comes off as wanting to get it over with. The script needed another pass, there are things shown that likely would have gotten more models and more visually unique aspects with more production time (conjuring especially). It’s like something that has broadly a decent ending that is hurt by the rushed writing and clear lack of time to up the spectacle (which for a theatre release is needed) for the deadline they chose. Assets like the altered world on the poster and the Caine bee model I see as symptoms of the rushed production. I don’t think it was a uniquely bad finale, it doesn’t ruin the rest of the show for me anyways even if I feel like episode 8 just has a “finale” feel to it more… episode 9 is like a lingering aftermath. One thing I don’t see people mentioning much is the lack of any scene where Caine and Kinger say something, which is really strange seeing the huge role kinger played in episode 8 and his relation to Caine clearly being important. That being said, with how not horrible just on par it was, I believe there is a corporate astroturfed cyber hate campaigns being done against indie creators as the hostility to gooseworx is excessively forced on social media, as if it is influencers paid off by larger businesses leveraging their audiences as part of an operation to harass indie creators as an intimidation tactic. I can’t think of any other reason for the social fascism going on over this animation as the hate comes off as really contrived/forced without some underlying motive of this nature.
