It was only really good for funding lewd material, and since they've completely cucked on that under pressure from payment processors the last few years (along with SubscribeStar, Patreon, etc.) people just gave up.

They're still around but people learn the hard way that if you don't run it during the beginning of the tax year and spend your funds as a business expense as quickly as possible, the irs will come and gangrape your budget. Like 30% if you're lucky. So you actually have to ask for way more money upfront to break even and it just becomes unsustainable to do more than one short.A bunch of indies got funded off of kickstarter recently and I'm worried because its a ticking time bomb before they find out how financially fucked they are.
