If you put a white guy in you can do whatever you want with him. Make him as weird or as flawed as you want. Have him voiced by whoever, doesn't matter their ethnicity. Give him super exaggerated facial features to make him look more cartoon-y. Can't do that with a black character. Black characters are held up to impossible standards. Only about 13% of American voice actors are black so 87% percent of possible hires aren't valid. Nothing can be overly exaggerated about their appearance. But they also can't look out of place so the show's aesthetic must revolve around them. They can't be a stereotype but they can't act too white either. You can't make their arc about racism but you can't not make it about racism. You can't creatively limit people while also demanding representation. This is why people give up and just use cartoon animals or weird colored blob people.
