>>153872496To me this is one of the best takes on trunkless superman, because of the insignia no trunks supes tends to look very top heavy, the "S" logo naturally drawing your eyes upwards. This design solves that by shrinking the s shield to the size of a badge, resulting in a more balanced look, plus the hair, and that cape coming off is a nice touch.
This is another example of how to make no trunks work, the waist piece breaks up the blue of the suit and draws your eyes to it much like the red trunks normally would.

>>153873269Agreed. The biggest hurdle most redesigns can't clear is the balance of the colors brought by the wide collar and trunks. Solving that in a way that maintains the approachable, heroic look without shifting into militarism or something completely off base is the key to a good redesign.

In the same way Superman's cape evokes royalty or noble heritage to some extent. I want to emphasize that it's NOT better than the open collar, but if your going to make a redesign you have to change some things, otherwise why are you bothering with a redesign in the first place?
