Season premiere tonight and it's crickets.I'll be honest, though the peak of its hype is long gone for good, I still enjoy the show, regardless of the community's overall opinion. I don't need every episode to be a banger or hilarious, or to try to recapture the magic of S1 or 2, I just need it to be entertaining, and four out of five times, it usually meets that.We all have plenty, plenty, PLENTY of things to critique the show about, and chances are most, if not all, of our issues are justifiable.But it's still fun. Great episode that showed a glimpse of what this show could be, but I know for a fact the rest of the season (besides maybe the finale) will be the same shit as always: boring stories centered filled with useless references and overplayed jokes. If they shifted the show into an action sci-fi series centered around Rick and Morty exclusively, and not an overplayed comedy that has to give spotlight to every dumb member of the family, I think the show could make a comeback. But I know better to expect this episode to be an anomaly, not the norm.
That was actually pretty goodAction scenes and Evil Morty lore aside it also had plenty of good silly comedy and that's what was missing from recent Rick and Morty seasons. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come.

Honestly impressed for how they went all out for the season opener. I don’t think they’ve gone this far since the Season 3 opener. Still, it’s a little weird how Rick straight up has super powers now.
Maybe it's because I'm high but I was watching the Family Guy before this stuff because it's better connection to start the app before the episode airs so you have an IP set in place, but I was noticing how old the references are, and I imagined a cutaway gag where Peter Griffin gets mad at Meg's Zoomer boyfriend for not liking old references, and he gets mad and yells "WELL OKAY ASSHOLE, WHAT KIND OF REFERENCE WOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY"and then they do the whole second opening of Gachiakuta with Seth McFarlane doing the Peter Griffin voice to Let's Just Crash, and I'm laughing so hard at the different stand-ins for all the characters (Rudo's Peter obviously, Amo's Lois, Enjin's James Woods, the Chicken's the Spherite Angel and Regto's Jonathan Weed) and there's a bit where PeterRudo hits his knee on a table and does the ffffaahhhhh bit and now that I'm typing it out it's probably not that funny to anyone else but I've already sunk this much time into writing this so Kobe
One thing I hate about this show is how their season premiere and finales are solving a problem that's only been a problem because they just brought it up. Evil Morty controlling Rick was not a thing last season, so now that its "solved" I don't see how anything's different for the family from season 8.Also pretty dumb for either of them to think time prison will keep him locked. I almost expected them to joke about how he'll be back like their own personal Dr. Doom or Joker. They should have executed him right there and then.

I'm probably the biggest Rickhead (that being the colloquial term for someone who is fond of the series Rick and Morty and not meant to say that I am fond of Rick the character in particular though I do like what they're doing with him and personally my favorite character in the show right now is Jerry though I did not like him very much at first when I picked this show up while season 3 was airing) on this board, obsessed to the point that for the last few seasons I've been dissecting every clip for the two trailers we get from every season and identifying which are from the same episode to make some sense of the plot prior to the episode in question airing. I also watched the cold open for this episode four times in the span of the entire day. So yeah I'm a fan of this show. I personally really liked this episode but I'll be frank I didn't think /co/ would also like it as much you seem to. I loved the Matrix episode because it was a cool concept even though it did not change the status quo and because Matrix Morty outdid Rick in that one scene which I think was really cool but after coming here after the premiere I saw /co/ collectively shit on it and not even just /co/ I checked the IGN review of season 8 yesterday (going on another tangent here but IGN has already done a "spoiler-free" review of season 9 and I say that with quotes because there were indeed some spoilers in there) and IGN also shat on that episode so I was half-expecting the same for this episode as well, /co/ calling it character assassination or shitting on the over-the-top animation or something like that but it seems like most anons liked it which was a pleasant surprise. thank you for reading my blog.

Yeah, so destroying the Omega Device and its blueprints for good was probably the right call, the idea that you can just wipe every version of something out of existence along with the "true memories" of it is just way too OP. And I guess it's nice to know Evil Morty does have weaknesses and flaws, it was a bit irritating to think a seemingly invincible Morty was just around.
