>me trying to recall the last time a new original /co/ show got big without relying on R34 fan artists to spread the word on social media algorithms

Rick and Morty I think? Is this type of mainstream western animation just over for good

It's funny how quickly OP got blown out. I'm half expecting him to move the goalposts.

Sucks that R&M outlived SF. I thought SF was just okay, but even I would've loved to see that outlive R&M instead.

/co/ only talks about indie animations with creator drama

>>153864544
Nobody gives a shit about Primal or Smiling Fags in real life.

>>153864195
>>153864349
Neither of these had an episode with 1M viewers, they barely approached 0.5M, no one's heard of them outside animation circles, for example R&M S3 had 2M+ by default

Neither do people care about Gameoverse IRL. Hell, not even the internet cares outside of the Mega Man expy.

>new original /co/ show

>>153864667
Do you also treat Twitter views as if each and every count represents a real person? You are the exact kind of person these public engagement metrics are designed to manipulate.
>>
>>153864900
Is the MCU exactly original? No, but people IRL give a fuck about that.

I really don't think Primal was really ever that big

I don't think it had much mainstream appeal but it certainly did well with general critics online, and was one of the shows that did earn it, so it felt like proper respect given to something.

OP should've said mainstream, and been more specific. Because it's interesting to think about how shows (non-indie) have slowed down in how many hit that status. I think it's a discussion that'd be fun to read people have here but I don't think anyone really cares, either. Most of the current userbase is probably only here for indie and don't care about or are knowledgeable on network landscapes.

OP did say mainstream
