Thoughts on Xorn?
>>153878085not even with a stolen dick
>>153878085Why did people hated the reveal in the 2000s?
>>153878181They didn't like Magneto being a genocidal drug-addict.
>>153878181We had this new and cool mysterious character and all of sudden it was used just for a cheap reveal.
>>153878085he was cool until he wasnt. anyways that one comic panel of his, is so fire
>>153878407But Morrison littered his run with clues that Xorn wasn't all he made out to be. Magneto infiltrating the mansion as some pacifist Zen monk is pretty based ngl.
>>153879455you know, it's when idiots say dumb shit like this that I really understand how that Flash movie got madesome people really are just fucking morons
I really liked it when New X-Men was like 90% of my X-Men experience including stuff outside of comics. Now that it's less than 1% the way I think about that run in the same way as stuff like TDKR and Red Son, it's an Elseworlds.
>>153878181Because someone at Marvel realized with their two remaining brain cells that having Magneto doing yellowface is actually fucking stupid
>>153880117>Marvel announces the return of Grant Morrison on X-Men>Morrison promises more weird and whacky adventures, surprising twists and meta-shenanigans>first script he turns in has Magneto literally saying chingchong bingbong>preorders withdrawn
>>153878181It was stupid.
>>153880117>yellowfaceFuck. Now I wish he wasn't wearing that stupid mask and instead underwent valmorification like Sean Connery did in YOLT.
>>153878085Cool drawing. Shitty character.
Morrison warn us about not to trust the chinese.
>>153880237>no media literacy
>>153880620Retard
>>153878085I never remember if that was his face or he was secretly handsome
>>153878085I remember reading about him one of those old Marvel Encyclopedias form the 2000s. Hadn't thought about him since.
>Media Literacy (tm)
>>153878085Am sure I saw him during age of krakoa
>>153880794sure, why notall the bullshit: the event
>>153882053Am gonna look for it
>>153880038hmm yeah, I suppose I'll also be biased towards a favorable view of it because it was first x comic run I read.
>>153878085I want the "real" xorn to actually fucking do something because his design is cool as fuck.
Found it
>>153878085Should've been his own character instead of a ridiculous Magneto ploy>>153878181It was really stupid and confusing, wasted a cool character for nothing interesting
>>153880038I often think it would've been better if Morrison had been given the Ultimate X-men instead and was allowed to just do whatever there.
>>153879455Twists only work if the post-reveal status quo is at least as good as what came before. Much like how IM3 built up the Ben Kingsley Mandarin only to have him an actor thus giving us a climax of Iron Man facing off against a techbro in chinos with doucebag hair, Morrison built up an interesting new character only to have him be a figleaf for his uninteresting hot take on a version of Magneto that hadn't existed for decades.
>>153880794Yeah, he was making cameos along with Zorn
>>153882806Technically alive
>>153882345
>>153882345xorn is on scotts team in the main x-men book, he's around still just mainly on background duty.
>>153882863Did he just suddenly stopped being bad or are the x men just really forgiving?
>>153879455Even his backstory wasn't actually witnessed, it's something that was explained by the real villain of the story Sublime
>>153882892The xorn with cyclops is shen xorn who never did anything villainous. They offloaded that baggage to his brother kuan.
>>153882892Scott's been an outright villain for decades at this pointeven in >>153882345 they're all just standing around with Daken, a sociopathic mass-murdering sadist, Magneto, a guy who literally took over two different countries and became a racist dictator *after* joining the X-Men, not to mention whatever bullshit is going on with main characters like Beast, Xavier, Gambit, Angel or whoever, or Bishop in the back there who literally genocided *entire timelines* trying to kill *other X-Men* and "got better"not pictured: Apocalypse, Sinister, Cassandra Nova and other outright villains who are not merely "on the team" but "in charge of mutant fuccboi island"
>>153884119rent free
>>153884228diaperfag kys
>>153883133Then why is he dressed exactly like Morrison Corn?
>>153878085Is this comic worth reading?I hated Claremont's run.
>>153878192>>153879455That wasn't actually Magneto, it was Xorn's identical twin brother, possessed by the sentient mold, Sublime, pretending to be Magneto pretending to be Xorn.
>>153878085wasn't it Zorn?
>>153878181They didn't. Only the perpetual fat nerds that is Marvel's writing room hated it.Now there's this revisionist history that it was always hated when that was never true.
>>153882768>on a version of Magneto that hadn't existed for decadesExcept for when Magneto forced Moira to brainwash the X-Men Blue team into being his bitches only about ten years before the Xorn reveal. Or when Magneto knocked out the electric grid on the entire planet and ripped Wolverine’s skeleton out of his body about seven years or so before the Xorn reveal. Or when Magneto was going to start World War 3 with Genosha in the story literally right before Morrison’s run.
>>153878181We really didn’t, we thought it was a cool twist and went back to see all the clues planted throughout the run. The “magneto hadn’t been a bad guy for years!” bitching is revisionism since Magneto had been a straight villain from 1991-2001. The “actually that wasn’t magneto that was Xorn pretending to be magneto pretending to be Xorn…oh and Xorn happens to have an identical twin brother” was seen as the retarded retcon. I literally don’t care what anyone says my head canon will always be that when Scarlet Witch had her breakdown she warped reality to create real Xorns and brought her dad back as the more good guy version of himself and that’s why he’s been a pussy since.
>>153887283Yes. Especially if you hated Claremont’s run. Morrison loves Claremont but he was really the first writer to break the cycle of trying to emulate Claremont on X-Men. For further incentive Claremont HATES Morrison’s run.
>>153888342>>153888424Morrison was explicitly attacking the characterization of Silver Age Magneto, as that was his only frame of reference for Magneto since he wasn't an X-Men reader as an adult. “Magneto hadn’t been a bad guy for years!” is strawman deflection for the actual complaints X-Men readers had with Morrison's shitty writing because he didn't like the character. Everyone knew he'd been a villain since 1991, his peak as a character was the post-Claremont villainy, the problem was Morrison.
>>153888466The preceding decade was writers not emulating Claremont on X-Men, it's why Claremont spent the 90s being surly as fuck. Also Claremont makes some pretty concise criticisms of Morrison's run in Xtreme.
>>153878085Cool AF
>>153880022>NO>FUCKING >ARGUMENTLOL FAGGOT
He’s super cool and I hate the twist as much for wasting a cool new mutant as I do for fucking up Magneto
>>153882829>>153882806>>153880794He’s been in Mckays X-Men too, mostly in the background though
>>153887444And that's the thing everyone forgets. Before the retcon, it was still Magneto -possessed by Sublime- the same mutant that turned Beast into a super fascist in the final arc.
>>153888572>as that was his only frame of reference for Magneto since he wasn't an X-Men reader as an adultThat’s not even a little bit true, Morrison’s talked about how Claremont’s X-Men was the only comic he was still buying when he was getting older and how the Dark Phoenix Saga touched him so much he wrote a gushy love letter to Claremont. Magneto hadn’t been a good guy for nearly twenty years by the time of the Xorn reveal…and his extreme behavior is literally blamed on being brainwashed by the Sublime mold
>>153888640>some pretty concise criticisms of Morrison's run in XtremeThe only thing I remember about X-Treme X-Men was the weird orgasm weapon used on Rogue and how the silent month issue still somehow managed to be wordy as fuck even if it didn’t have any words
>>153878085unoriginal. x-writers keep shilling the same characters
