This is a quality piece of literature but it should have ended with complete nuclear holocaust and all the other superheroes getting cancer from Dr. Manhattan, who must then piece together a new society on Mars. Rorschach was actually right all along and shouldn't have died, instead becoming the uniformed lawman he's always wanted. A post-nuclear, atomic wasteland America is a funner setup for superhero action than a post-9/11 america as is implied in the canon ending. Dr. Manhattan having to physically contain himself while working with other people in space is more interesting then having him fight Lex Luthor.

What about if it was revealed that Russia and the US had been in talks and were never really considering nuclear war but rather were both just using the threat to build political capital? >>153892478The War Room scenes unfortunately cement the US were in the dark what the Soviets were playing at, so unless the people behind the scheme were subversives in Nixon's administration it wouldn't tie up, introducing last minute subversives would also be a little clumsy unless you have Comedian make vague remarks about everyone scheming.Ultimately I'm not sure if it would matter because Adrian would just veer into saying even if he didn't stop a war his scheme put the brakes on worse people hijacking the future, so there. He was still eyebrows deep in his delusions until the moment Jon had to tell him to just stop posturing so he could leave and never see him again. The ending also makes out Veidt seems to continue on with his little subliminal games despite this splash of cold water moment so there's no helping him.
I feel like the character writing is kind of lackluster. Silk is literally useless, and Owlbitch is annoying. That’s why I like League Vol. 3 so much

Man I was flipping through my old ass trade paperback of Watchmen last nightThe coloring in that comic is so fucking gorgeous. The gorgeous blend of multiple colors per page really make that comic stand out visually, it's gorgeous to thumb through. Also realized with age that Night Owl might be the most relatable character in it.
