Imo in the wake of fandom culture becoming more toxic than ever and creators stressing to curate their fanbase or work into something sanitised, I hold the opinion that it's impossible to make something that is good but isn't damaging to the medium. Inevitably, a good work will give rise to copycats and pitfalls that will plague similar works for an amount of time proportional to how important the work is. Adventure time is incredible but it also gave rise to "kids cartoon that looks innocent but is actually serious and grimdark and spooky". FNAF is a masterpiece but it gave rise to mascot horror, etc.
>>153882057To be fair that sort of imitator problem has existed for many decades
>>153882057Some concepts are being reused from before fandom discourse on the internet became mainstream. Gameoverse lifts its premise from ReBoot wholesale.
>>153882057Oh anon it was always like that. Genesis Sonic was good, but after that many mediocre or bad quirky mascot platformers were released in the 90s. However, that shouldn't stop you from wanting more good things. Hell eventually a copycat could be good

>>153882057That's why you see all these retards that resent great works. People still blame Alan Moore and Frank Miller for the state of comics today, because back in the 80s they made good shit, too good. These faggot "fans" yearn for mediocrity and for no one to rock the boat.

>>153887692What is this, a Spanish Kevin Spencer?
>>153882171It's not even necessarily a bad thing. Jojo started out as a ripoff of Fist of the North Star and became one of the most unique and beloved animes of all time. Plenty of ripoffs have similar stories.
>>153887775>Plenty of ripoffs have similar stories.Exactly, R&M was a BTTF parody at first.
>>153882057First you need to clarify what you mean by “toxic” because that word has been thrown around and used to describe people doing shit like sending death threats to giving basic criticism. >I hold the opinion that it's impossible to make something that is good but isn't damagingA good work will speak for itself, if others try to feed off of what it does it is not the fault of the author or the work but the bottom feeders who lack the creativity to make something with even a modicum of originality.>Adventure time is incredibleAdventure Time had one of the biggest fall off of any cartoon and people always try to copy the worst aspects of it. The whole “lore show” debate which sprang from it is always less about the shows having lore or a stable continuity and more how it’s poorly written shit which attempts to do what AT did over the course of a years and multiple seasons in the span of like a season and a half. And it wasn’t even the most interesting part.

>>153882057They made the greatest cartoon of all time (TADC) and it just led to a bunch of content farms
You are exaggerating. You can create anything you want, people are just as annoying as they ever where since the early 2010's.This entire new drama with glitch has nothing on Homosuck and average ship wars. really. You just need to be careful to avoid having a huge amount of females and specially female teenagers on your fanbase. Faggots are a close second but is only a very specific type of faggot, you know the one. Those always been the death of creativity and anything related to it because they will try to make the entire thing about themselves, and the best way to that is to play the victimize by shoving problems were are none in any situation.
PASÁME LA PLATA
>>153882057Financial bottlenecks and a hostile, lawless culture damage the medium more than any show possibly can, good or bad
