The discourse over Walker vs Ottley is the modern day version of Ditko vs Romita
Walker can't draw for shit.
>Modern dayThe shift happened 22 years ago.
>>153883301Wtf do you think "modern" means?
>>153883475The Spider-Man readers in 1988 weren't discussing the Romita change anymore.
>>153883803You don't know that.
>>153883934I doWe weren't You're welcome
Walker can draw better action scenes, ottley can draw better drama scenes.
>>153884054>WeYou were being excluded from everyone's happy little conversations that you didn't know about.
>>153884442I'm 58, I was excluded from nothing. In the 1980s no one was still talking about Ditko because we weren't on message boards, and even on AOL/CompuServe we mainly talked about current titles and talent. We good here, Timmy?
>>153884072Walker doesn't draw mouths like tragic dental anomalies. Ottley needed that shamed out of him a fuck-ass long time ago.
>>153884054they were discussing it as late as 1983. here's a letter from issue 79 of the comics journal (edited to abide by 4chan's file size limits):>inb4 "but that's not 1988"
>>153884072Wasn't Ottley the one with all the good action pages?
>>153885613>>153885855Lmao, 58 year old friendless boomer destroyed.
>>153882249Ditko and Ottley for me.
>>153886106Was he?
>>153882316His art got better substantially AFTER Invincible ended
>>153882249That's BS. Ditko and Romita were good artists
>>153886106With the fight in the sun as an outlier, no. He drew better full-page illustrations that showed a single moment of action, but often there was little flow between anything when he had to use panels. Many of his fights felt like a collage of panels of characters being punched.Though judging from the BB comic, he has got a lot better on that front.
