The A plot is her heretofore unknown sister dragging her back to the decrepit evil lab where alongside a bunch of other kids who all had a life threatening incurable illness she was subjected to inhumane treatments that cured her at a cost. She gained powers but developed delusions about her own origin and overuse of those powers were actually killing her. Her sister forces America to recognize this before America realizes she's kinda deranged and evil and she conveniently dies so AC can return to and accept the actual, living family who cares about her instead of fantasizing about the dykes endlessly. AC retains the tank qualities Kelly gave her, Gillen's coming out, but makes it clear the portal jumping has come to an end if she wants to live to see her next birthday, and writes off Rivera's personality shift as a cured disease.

Marvel made a point of Latino writer and artist so no one would be able to claim she was being whitewashed.
