This has to legitimately be the most braindead and moronic thing I have ever read. It's like they told a kid to act out Secret Wars with DC action figures, and the kid was 5 Y/O and also mentally challenged to boot. There is nothing redeeming about this beyond the art. It's a story with supposedly multiversal stakes and it's just a bunch of faggots who look like they came out of a toyline's scrapped variants designs just standing around and then punching each other. Set aside characterization, stakes, basic storytelling, there's genuinely nothing in here that is enjoyable. I'm a Batfag. I don't mind the BatWank. But this isn't BatWank. It's years and years of Snyder writing shitty Hickman fanfic (which is already watered down Morrison fanfic) which in the end is nothing more than... toys smashing together. There's no imagination in Snyder, there's no innovation, there's not even basic storytelling ability. How did this sell? How do people like this? The art is cool, I admit. Instead of the Beyonder(s) you've got Perpetua who's entirely nondescript in design, character and goals. BatKek isn't an evil Batman, he's just Jokah Baybheee with Bat-Ears. There's no story behind it all, it's just BatKek doing shit for the lulz. The buildup is a couple of years of Lex going>EVIL PREVAILSuntil he just gets one-shotted. And then it all culminates in the big multiversal event being just a bunch of capes punching each other while Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have generic >we have hope my friendsdialogue. It's not even cool in its stupidity, it's just trash.I don't want to hear this board trash Hickman again while propping up the Crises. One is stupider than the last. I genuinely prefer King's Batman to this trash. N52 was the death of DC and there's been nothing else past it.

Yeah it was really undersold how terrible this event was while it was running. There was constant cope surrounding it, people trying to spin it like it was just a fun action movie where you had to "turn your brain off", saying things like they wouldn't be printing stories like this if it wasn't what people wanted. Yet in the end they haven't seen used Batkek since the fucking Fortnite crossover, so I have to wonder if his presence wasn't 100% push and 0% actual fan engagement.

The worst part is there weren't even good fights or cool action to fit the motif. A lot of Batkek's fights were off panel, shit like Superman beating the Dark Father was done with a single punch and Perpetua/Darkest Knight/Gold Wonder Woman fighting just felt like little kids wrestling and knocking shit over.
