I maintain it should have been more like Kingdom Hearts and less some boring edgy gore fest. The main character should have hopped from world to world beating darkness and learning a lesson from the characters she helped. The Darkness would have corrupted people in interesting, and not always evil but clearly problematic ways. Like Fred Flintstone turning into a workaholic, Yosemite Sam turning into a competent, and dangerous, bounty hunter. It would have been fun but the creators ruined it.
