As an old fuck, the turning point where I see culture change was having a black chick be the hero in Alien vs Predator. You could believe it's Obama as implied, or you could just read it as a generic President. Millar wanted the first issue of Nemesis to have Nemesis holding up Obama's severed head, which would've left no mystery as to who the President was and what happened to him.
