Why are people suddenly mad about indie studios funding cartoons by selling merch?

>>153914528For some reason, compared to literally every other medium/hobby and their demographics, western animation has this really bizarrely disproportionate amount of people who sincerely do not seem to understand any of the logistics behind how their medium in question is actually produced, which in turn is also wrapped up in this really noticeable contempt for basically everything related it.Like, you can tell that a lot of people think that even adequate-quality animation is magically produced for free by doing some kind of lollipop dance and they don't want to fork over even a single cent compared to say, animefags and vidyafags, and all they ever do is just shit all over new creations on principle in a way that even comicfags don't do. It's all such a simultaneously hostile, deliberately ignorant, and self-hating group of people that I really don't even know why they obsess over cartoons so much when it just causes them 24/7 grief for incomprehensible reasons.
HOW DO PEOPLE EXPECT THEM TO FUND THESE PROJECTS
