Cartoon network early on did tried to market it as next big thing with a app game and the availability to unlock said items on the app game via the episodes.
But in the end it was a failure
>>
>>153919516
How has no one but us covered it’s insanely convoluted rabbit hole yet?
>>
>>153919506
they collaborated with fucking sonic. CN was absolutely trying to force it.

>Wow Wow Wubbzy
I loved that show as a wee lad.
>>
>>153919563
I say this as a filthy Sonic fan:
Sonic is a fucking brand whore, and will collaborate with absolutely fucking anybody who asks Sega. They traffic that motherfucker out to anybody who gives them even a dollar.
Plus that crossover happened before the franchise got a second wind of mainstream popularity from the movies.

>TIL Wow Wow Wubbzy was developed by fucking Film Roman
Why were they doing a pre-school show?
>>
>>153919872
Bullshit. They made a fucking video game for OK KO that got a physical release. The series got multiple crossover episodes featuring dozens of Cartoon Network's previous IPs. The series was given A LOT of push from the network and still failed because at the end of the day OK KO fucking sucked. It lacked any sort of strength of its own and was at its best when using pre-existing characters. There is no way that piece of shit would have ever been saved. The network pushed it and the only reason you ignore this is because you're a blind fanboy of a shitty shows.
>>
>>153919872
It's still crazy that you had fucking Aang, SpongeBob and the TMNT in a Sonic racing gamd

The show was lost media until 2019
>>

You don't remember the game and all the shilling going with it?
It was obnoxious, the only show kids liked even less than it was Victor and Valentino.
>>
>>153919367
I saw Fanboy and Chum Chum figures rotting on Toys R Us shelves for YEARS. I was so pissed as a kid when it was the only Random! Cartoon they made into a show so seeing them collect dust was like a rush of euphoria
>>
>>153919367
OK KO seemed more like the creator's vanity project that cartoon network just went along with. I didn't really watch it while it was on but it didn't seem like it was getting pushed as much as there wasn't much else on cause CN became a 3 show network.
>>

Spielberg produced it and he dropped out of Warner Bros to do it. Pretty obvious it was going to be something big. Not to mention it had plenty of toys and a Game Boy Color game. Today, the show is lost media.
>>
>>153920464
The GBC game was nice at least, the music in general was very catchy.

The boss theme, the gardens, the cemetery and hell are great moat and roofs gets good on its final part where the second part of the songs came in.

I still have the cartridge, for a licensed platformer it was good.

It had a shit ton of promotion and merchandise and kids liked it, but it ultimately failed to reach the same level of success or popularity of it's contemporaries like Dora or Backyardigans

It's not that crazy when you realize that Paramount owns the rights to all three of those and that's how they got them into Sonic Crossworlds; through their deals with SEGA for the movie.

I have 3 of these figures. I should of bought them all considering people are crazy over them now. They didn't last at my local Toys R Us long. Seems like they shifted them out quickly and replaced the space with Regular Show stuff.
>>
>>153926934
Don't forget Animaniacs 2020, what an embarrassment that was. The original had 99 episodes and a movie, that piece of shit only lasted 36 episodes and told the viewers to go fuck themselves for not watching it by killing off all the characters in the last minute.
>>
>>153919367

I was the kid who even bought the comics and realized like in issue 3 or 4 that it was like not paralel to the cartoon but his own story and I prefered more the comic than the cartoon. I had some of the creatures that were sold with cards and miniatures (to play with it like Gormiti) but like one day everything was gone.
The comic was more "mature" and it went all over the world to narrate myth and legends of the world one of my favorite of the comics was one in the beggining "The Legend of Robin Hood" where robin hood was a huntik not a real person like for Dracula that in the world of huntik was a guy. The other one I enjoyed was "The headless knight" the story of Ichabod Crane was real and a old guy summoned the knight to scare guys from buying his tuff (like a scooby-do episode)

The 90s New Woody Woodpecker Show had a shit ton of promotion and newspaper articles hailing the return of Woody Woodpecker after 20+ years of dormancy, yet the actual show was very mediocre and quickly forgotten about. It was so bad, that it killed off Woody Woodpecker for 15 years until the 2017 movie.

Speaking of Glenn Martin, didn’t that have a laugh track when it aired on Nick at Nite? I watched an episode on Tubi recently and could have sworn it had a laugh track when I saw back in 2010.
>>
>>153930014
Yes, it in fact DID have a laugh track. Not sure how Enter got a hold of his copy, but that particular version is hard to come by now.

The show suffered from production issues with the higher ups wanting to tone it down and cutting down vast majority of the characters. Even Oswald was going to be in it. Some of them made in into the video games released at the time.
>>
>>153919516
>the flamethrower
BUMs of Fire.
>>153930040
Enter must have a secret lost media stash, judging by the fact he also had a Little Clowns of Happytown episode that wasn’t found in English until years after his review.
>>
>>153930040
Weird. Was the version without the laugh track meant the home media edit?
>>
>>153930183
>Enter’s not only a hypocrite, but also a gatekeeper
Good to know
>>
>>153930210
It’s more likely he found them from some obscure website/channel and didn’t realize how rare they were.
>>
>>153930244
That, and some of his videos were edited by someone even worse than HE is. (As evident by the blatant kisscartoon watermarks.) Enter's likely the kind of person who deletes media without giving it a second thought.

This used to happen almost every time some old show from decades past was brought back. All the older guys who could not realize that 20-30 years had gone by were overjoyed some amazing hugely successful thing was going to be hugely successful all over again.

Same shit happened when they tried remaking Flintstones, Richie Rich, Peabody & Sherman...
>>
>>153929038
Never really saw what the big deal was with Woody Woodpecker, or why there were such dedicated fans. Always seemed like Woody is just another wacky Looney Tunes style cartoon with another wacky character that fucks with antagonists with dynamite and hammers. Nothing that hasn't been done a thousand times over with waaaaaay more characters before.

Never got why he stands out to people more than any other.
>>
>>153919506
>OKKO
That shit had no real life personal experience from the creator
>>
>>153931590
The Flintstones movie was moderately successful at least, and people seem to have some fondness for the Peabody and Sherman movie.

Richie Rich is definitely the odd one out nowadays, I can’t imagine the concept of “rich kid does rich things” would be appealing unless he did some insane shit.
>>
>>153930208
>Was the version without the laugh track meant the home media edit?
No, it was a personal decision from the creators themselves.
>This was later removed at the request of the series' creators, with Eric Fogel citing the show having "too much internal thinking". Part of the criticism was leveled at the overuse of laugh tracks (which were permanently removed a month after the show's premiere).
>>
>>153928425
Pitch bible alone I too would choose F&C ovet AT.
>>
>>153920133
The whole concept of this show is fucking weird.
>>
>>153926474
After the Beyonce special it went on an inexplicably long hiatus which tanked ratings (see also: star vs), and merchandise didn't sell as well as they anticipated so that alone was enough to cancel it

Is a Shame Secret Saturdays didn't get more popular, I recon it has to do with purposely trying to feel like an actiong HB show from the 70s, which is something I love but maybe kids though it was too old school.

I could tell you two things I didn't like about that show at first glance, one was the name Secret Saturdays doesn't sound like a show about a family of adventures hunting or protecting monsters, and the fact that the main thingy (The staff Zak used to control the cryptid was a chicken leg with an eye in the middle, for a toy that is a terrible choice)
