Side Quests is just a holdover from when WBD was still riding off the high of Distant Lands and F&C Season 1 performing better than expected and renewing public interest in the Adventure Time franchise five years ago. This childish reboot managed to survive development and make it through to Hulu, but it seems like they only made about one[half of a] season and then fired everyone, even when it's a legacy IP. And that's considered LUCKY. The BMO preschool series seems to have never gone into production, F&C Season 3 is looking less and less likely by the month, and that McHale/Sugar/Muto movie was for sure put on hold. Adventure Time isn't being propped up as some powerful moneymaking IP like it was at the start of the pandemic. Expect Side Quests to get a middling response and then be abandoned by the network soon after. Pretty sad way for this to all pan out honestly.
