Post and Discuss famous fictional structures that you've always found fascinating.
Could you imagine living next door to the fucking Ghostbusters? ... You think they give their neighbors discounts for residual spectral phenomena. The rents must be amazing in the area because the property values (in a "demilitarized zone" as Egon put it) are probably hilariously low as a result of explosions and curses.
On the subject of curses, spectral phenomena and neighbors, holy shit would living even a block from the Sanctum Santorum would be a fucking nightmare... Probably literally when the actual Lord of Nightmares shows up!Not to attack the place, he just liked the Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich they make in the little bodega across the street.
There's an ongoing series on Youtube describing a retro-futuristic multiverse. One of its main recurring locations is the Patchwork City and it's something I actually find myself wishing existed.https://youtube.com/shorts/x6mvbdFMpL0>inb4 "THAT'S AI SLOP!!!!!"I don't care. Touch grass.
Okay so it was probably under constant supervillain attack back in the day... But wouldn't this place have some kind of Landmark status at some point? Have tours/vistors and such?
I was always convinced it was going to turn out the house itself was a giant imaginary friend, given it's seemingly infinite interior structure and fantastical exterior... But maybe Madam Foster was just like Madam Winchester, building a shit crazy house because she was a fruit loop.
Imagine living in Gotham. I always had a thing for Art Deco stuff and it really scratches my itch.
>>153928633I like art deco interiors more than art deco exteriors for some reason. Victorian exterior, art deco interior would be my dream house. Is that unusual?
>>153928660For me it would be Art deco everything and maybe a combination of Art deco and 70s stuff for the furniture.
Hey remember that time McDuck's money bin was abducted by aliens?
>>153928714It really makes more sense to completely isolate the Bin like this but I miss Killmotor Hill and the various cannons built into it.
So... At some point during the bronze age Earth was the target of an alien colonization effort. Technology STILL well in advance of anything humanity develops lay scattered across the planet (most likely inert to anything not bearing a gem) but still... You'd think there'd be somebody screaming about the giant alien women from space and being laughed out of academic circles.
>>153928829But it must have had some lasting impact on humanity... All these ruins and signs of SOMETHING in mankind's history...I know it wasn't the point of the show but FUCK would it have been nice to have something.
Rebecca's apartment building in TaleSpin was fucking nuts. Her dead husband must've loaded.
>>153928865"Sorry, have to change our flight path, turns out there's a floating sky temple."
>>153928893Louie's wasn't half bad either.
Oh the wonders of 2x4 Technology.
You know for the show being named after it you'd think more would've happened there.
>>153928928Khan's Office was a character unto itself
>>153928977"A SHARK, LEX?! WHO KEEPS A SHARK WORTHY AQUARIUM IN A SKYSCRAPER?! THIS WAS AN INSANE CHOICE AND YOU KNOW IT!"
>>153928977God, I need a TaleSpin art book.
>>153928977https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5O3_jqHKlkThe guy owned fucking Piranha Plants.
While I could take or leave the boarding house itself, Arnold's room is still fucking incredible.
>>153928660For me, a fusion of Gothic and Art Deco styles would be ideal.
I'm sure living in a giant T made them an obvious target, but damned if it isn't a statement.
This one from Absolute reminds me of a Batman shaped building from Nashville TN.
It's crazy to think the Baxter Building had apartments for regular ass people at one point.
Okay, but did Bruce and Alfred install all that equipment and support structure down there by themselves or is there a dead worker grave storage somewhere in the cave?
>>153929543Fucking kek. This is so stupid. I love it.
>>153929145Damn that triggers my architect autism in a good way.
>>153928587>But wouldn't this place have some kind of Landmark status at some point? Have tours/vistors and such?It did here and there, but part of the joke is that nobody visits anymore because nobody gives a shit about Rusty
>>153929110His entire ceiling is a window. Do you know how hot that room would be in the summer? It would be a death trap at noon.
>>153929543I feel like there isn't a version of the Batcave that isn't a hilariously stupid construct in restrospect.
>>153929896Even the version with the hunchback.
>>153929543>Mastah Wayne, your Great Grandfather privately funded the construction of a literal Underground Railroad with a rare jewel the size of a small tangerine. That existing infrastructure is why the Wayne Estate isn’t a giant sinkhole.
>>153928633
>>153929951It's missing the monorails and air ships.
>>153928829I'm glad I'm not the only one concerned about the state of archaeology in this reality.
>>153930371Those are blimps.
>>153928631>>153928633Victorian and Victorian-adjacent architecture has always been a favorite of mine. Art Deco and Art Noveau are pretty cool too.
>>153930371And the treescraper
>>153931566Blimps have no internal metal skeleton, airships do.>>153931615The what?
>>153931633Treescraper.
>>153931829That's fucking awesome.
>>153931886It's actually an artificial tree with an elevator inside.
>>153931829I hate this.
>>153928291I've always loved the post-Legacy designs of The Grid, especially as they were expanded on in Uprising. This wonderful eclectic mix of sleek, futuristic designs and bold art deco shapes and contrasts, overlaid with silhouettes that harken back to circuit boards and computer hardware.

>>153932378
>>153928829>>153928865Keep in mind, at least based on the mural, humans were part of the rebellion against homeworld. You could consider them partially uplifted by rebel gems, then all of a sudden 99.9% of these hyper advanced godlike beings leading them against other evil godlike beings disappeared/transformed into monsters that then probably laid waste to everything around them.Iirc there's also a background thing fans noticed that it seems gem activity caused a certain geological event that formed a lot of siberia to not occur. There could be other similar differences. In the real world a certain volcanic eruption that turned one island into two caused worldwide weather changes for decades. In some places there was a year without a summer. Other places had 40 years of drought and 40 years of floods. It was apocalyptic and probably ended Incan society.
>>153928865Steven Universe is the fucking definition of wasted potential. A major network had the balls to broadcast a show about invincible alien invaders with personalized weaponry, absolute control over their physical forms (and the ability to take control of others’ through mutual cooperation), and a history of genocidal subjugation… but the entire premise was wasted on crying lesbians and gay pedo shit.I am still mad.

What's the deal with Water Tribe constructions... I guess it works like those ice hotels?
>>153935925Why does it look like Ferb?
>>153928829>>153928865>>153928894Humans in Steven Universe might be even more retarded than humans in Invader Zim. Sure, in everyday behavior they're not as much blithering idiots, but they have some of the most loud and obvious extraterrestrial presence of any fictional setting, and they just fucking ignore it. Where the fuck is the government when all this gem shit is happening?
>>153937406
>>153937076Where’s this from?
>>153928560That's AI slop
>>153928660I'm kind of the opposite. Art Deco on the outside, Victorian on the inside
>>153937501I think it's from Goat. Whole movie had a lot of really great world design shit, honestly.
>>153929477Why do Reed and Sue have their own rooms?
>>153929543>>153929896>>153929917Anyone have the Miller fold out one?
>>153937792you know why
>>153937792Because they bought the building before they got married…

>>153928893One of my favorite things about Cape Suzette was how nearly the entire city incorporated rivers and waterfalls into it's design. Even a random apartment building like Rebecca's had that waterfall going through the middle of it.
>>153928938coolest treehouse in cartoon history
>>153929870he could close blast shield things up there with his remote if it bothered him
>>153937076Clearly inspired by Gaudi.

Always like Dr. Seuss's funky houses.
>>153949510Then again, it can be kind of impractical.
>>153928392The joke is Tribeca is actually one of the safest areas in NYC, and it's also one of the wealthiest areas in NYC. You can live next to that building, if you can afford it.
>>153950262Gentrified though, isn't it?
I've always been fond of the idea of floating islands with a wizards tower on it or something, but for the life of me I can't think of any examples of that. I'm almost certain there are examples of that in /co/ media, but I'm drawing a blank. I do remember there was an old show on Nickelodeon about an airship crew exploring a world made up of a shit ton of floating islands after the Earth blew up or something.
>>153951515
>>153951515Shit, should've read the rest of the post. Dragon Hunters? There's Storm Hawks too but neither of those were Nick or involved that specific plot. Storm Hawks was more plateaus too.

>>153953513Give me some TITLES, man! Or at least a full name! That looks great!>>153949510>>153949760Ooh, same. Have you seen his more painterly works? They’ve got this same style but are beautifully rendered and sometimes go even farther than the children’s books did. Pic related.https://www.drseussart.com/secretandarchive
>>153928291very pretty colours~
>>153955804I've skimmed the book before. Not architectural but Minor-Cat Miner in a High-Yield Emerald Mine amused me.

>>153955804Check out his Obscure Cities series, about an alternate Earth, full of cities with crazy or weird architecture. The main stories are:>The Great Walls of Samaris>The Fever in Urbicande>The Tower>Brusel>The Leaning Girl>The Shadow of a Man>The Invisible Frontier>The Theory of the Grain of SandThere seem to be lots of untranslated related works, like pic related.
good thread OP
>>153959436these are from Cool World btw
>>153929543I love this wayne-batman cave building stuff.
I always liked how the museum in The Casagrandes Movie almost had like so many floors but then again it could be some projected screen on the ceiling.
