Why don't you enjoy the more ridiculous elements of comics? Isn't that the point?
>>153936969For me? It’s Max Goof
>>153936969>Why don't you enjoy the more ridiculous elements of comics?when did I say I don't ? >Isn't that the point? No the point is always to tell a great story. Having ridiculous elements or not depends on the story you're trying to tell but simply having them or not having them is not the deciding factor on whether a story is good or not
Goofy shit in American superhero comics tends to feel patronizing, like it’s purposefully dumb. It’s not earnestly enjoyable most of the time When I read goofy shit in manga there’s often an internal logic that is maybe not solid but the effort makes it feel more like a proper world than just low effort goofiness.
>>153936969It seems you’ve already memory holes the mpreg joker comic
>>153937081>When I read goofy shit in manga there’s often an internal logic that is maybe not solid but the effort makes it feel more like a proper world than just low effort goofiness.Thisbut the opposite.
>>153936969no.I don't know how you forgot what it was like to be a kid being shit on by everyone, parents, peers, authorities, the media, for liking comics and cartoons and toys, butthe reaction your brain is supposed to have to that is "nuh-uh, it's COOL. it's mature, it's full of deep thoughts and it's COMPLETELY unlike goofy baby cartoons where everything is ridiculous"yes, on paper it will always be ridiculous, that's the point of fiction. Frasier is ridiculous. But you want it to feel grounded and believable, so you can just enjoy it as it was intended.
>>153937374it depends if we're talking a pre- or post- Hunter X Hunter worldanime worldbuilding used to be amazing. it was built on like, martial arts films and traditional spirituality, or a fractured take on foreign mythology.then at some point it became "yknow what, it works on imagination. if you can imagine a thing, you can do it." which is fucking pants."I have the power to break anything I think I can break!" fucking dumb"I used my spiritual power to form these special chains and if the number of links is a prime number divided by my birthday, nobody can escape it" retarded.but like, 'when I punch with my arm, my SOUL also punches and a fucking beam comes out, but it drains my spirit' is awesome. "I can shoot energy shit out of my hands, but if I grab it and force it out, I can make a lightsaber" is tits. Now sometimes it's okay, like... Speed Grapher, when it's explicitly some kind of mystical force that bases your powers on your personality and desires. but once it has done so, it should be set in stone and be plausible. Just because magic can make a fireball doesn't mean it makes fire that can like, point downward instead of up. Once it ignites the fucking tinder, nature takes over.
>>153938021Dragon Ball has barebones world building.
I do. Fuck you for assuming things about me.
>>153937110That's just gay.
i dont like bankwank and i dont like batgod cause it ruins what batman is supposed to be
>>153938063have you watched it recently?Go watch it again. it goes from jokey to incredibly complex to, well, before toriyama died and when he got kind of resentful that this is all people wanted from him, he started making it fucking stupid. I guess Nameks are demons now. whatever.Sandland had nice worldbuilding
>>153940864>to incredibly complex
>>153937374>>153938021No, manga just puts a lot more thought into it because it has to build it from the ground up.
>>153936969I do. But it can't just be dumb shit for the sake of dumb shit. The writing needs to be good too. And more often than not,m it isn't.
>>153936969I want comics to make sense internally and between each other so that they feel like a world with connected pieces that all make sense. I don't need things to be realistic, god no, but I desperately need them to be _coherent_. If character X can fart fire in one comic I want him to remember he can burn his way out of the wooden ass prison in a different comic. Things have to stay consistent among themselves or it all devolves into nothing.
>>153936969>Isn't that the point?No
>>153942643>manga>thought put into itThis is bait
>>153936969It depends on the comic and what writers or company made it.There is a fine line between Deadpool, where you know it is wacky, and Batman 68 tv show where you dont get the original stuff, it getting very goofy a satire.
