What do you think Mikaila's big fuckup at the end of chapter one will end up being? My lazy guess is she ends up getting someone close to her killed, maybe Simon. Feels like since she turned out to have survived, it would be ironic if the Adler child who was kind of neglected throughout everything ended up dying instead.

The setting definitely feels like while it has room for personal heroism it has passed the point where individual martial ability is more important than technology and strategy. Your biggest and most fearsome Copper is still going to be diced by constructs or massed pymary.And if you devote your long life to slaughtering Crescians on the battlefield you're probably a lot less likely to reach your 300th birthday, so to some extent Copper warriors probably self-select out.The Bronze/Silver thing is interesting and partially answered I think, but no doubt it'll be explored more. Silvers still have a degree of enhanced pymary, which makes them more valuable, and they have a caste culture of incredibly close-knit and supportive (and repressive) ties. That lets them manoeuvre better as a political bloc and protect and advance their own interests.
