While it's not like the Clone Saga writers never made problems for themselves (e.g. the corpse in the smokestack, Maximum Clonage), most of the nonsense was from editorial and multilayered retcons.Conway never wrote an annual about how the Z'nox were impossible. Harras didn't mandate a six-month delay so the earth-shattering conclusion to the Senator Ward saga wouldn't step on the toes of another event.
