I think it's worth talking more than face value about the suicide angle. Because, abstraction is unending mental anguish in a tormented form. There's no "at least they're at peace now" angle - there's also an afterlife angle. That muddies the waters a lot and also seems an unintentional, not thought about part of the writing - does anyone deserve unending eternal suffering just for, i don't know, being a bit of an ass?
