Got talked into watch AtLA and LoK. Avatar was pretty fantastic and was hoping Korra was more of that. NOPE. >zero stakes>main characters constantly ragdolled but still win >Hitler >KORRA'S GAY NOW LOLWhat a huge drop in narrative quality.
>>153957747Everybody been saying Korra sucks for more than 15 years except for yuritrannies. Is this your first time using internet?
The sooner these frauds make peace with the fact that the original ATLA was a lightning in the bottle, the better.
>>153957813I don't typically watch cartoons. SO has been talking about the series for years and after that new movie leaked decided to give them a go. If I knew Korra was this bad I would've kept avoiding it.
Most important thing is that it ruins the entire mythos/world of avatar because new wave writers think everything needs to be explained>basic premise of the show is that this is a world where people can bend the elements and there's this one guy who can bend all of them>concept of bending, the avatar cycle and the spirit world is kept vague so that a sense of wonder and magic exists for the audience>"explanation" is that thousands of years ago 2 literal ying yang spirits were fighting and some random guy disrupted their fight so the balance of good and evil was thrown off >random guy goes on adventure with light spirit and slowly gains the ability to bend all elements>spirit world and real world separated after evil spirit is sealed away >random dude wastes his entire life fighting wars and dies in battle>light spirit moves on and reincarnates It's like the force being midochlorinians. Shut the fuck up you tranny writer.
>>153957747and get ready for more Korra glazing when the next series drops
>>153957747The biggest problem is that Korra wasn't planned out like AtLA was. It was just a bunch of weird disjointed seasonal storylines. And they totally ruined the aesthetic with the whole 1920's city with fucking robots and shit. This is supposed to be a setting about magic martial arts.AtLA was a big fantasy adventure story. Korra was something else.
>>153957921In fairness, the powers of the Avatar coming from a spirit shouldn't be any surprise. Like that's literally what the word Avatar means. But yeah, it really killed the magic of it all. It's better if the avatar is a mysterious force of nature.
>>153957921They're not even proper "yin and yang," because one of them is objectively good, and the other objectively evil, with no nuance whatsoever. The Avatar had been about balance, which is one of the core tenants of Buddhism and other Asian faiths they were using as inspiration. Bryke replacing that entirely with the same black and white "good vs evil" mentality found in every fantasy story, with giant glowing flatworms, is just hack writing. And frankly, it's the thing I hate the most about Legend of Korra, because it will NEVER go away, as evidenced by the fact it's still being referenced as the backbone of the new series that is sure to be even worse than LoK.
>let's make Avatar but instead of making Avatar we copy yurishit and Stephan Universes
>>153958011>And they totally ruined the aesthetic with the whole 1920's city with fucking robots and shitI find it really funny how butthurt people get over this. Like I don't even like Korra but this is probably one of the few things about it I'm not bothered about by it, I like that they tried a different aesthetic. What the fuck is the point of another series if it's going to be retreading the same ground? But the mecha shit in book 4 was pretty dumb, that I'd agree with.
>>153958073They wanted more comfy pseudo-medieval vibes and willfully ignored all the shit in the original series that made it clear the world was already at a roughly late Victorian tech level.
>>153957818The issue is that they are more concerned with politics and their gross fetishes now than making a good show.
