20 years later, what do we think about the crossover adventures of Alice Liddell, Dorothy Gale, and Wendy Darling?
Story time.

>>153960997
>>153961004That is all. Now comment what is your favorite scene overall.
>>153960986I'm an edgelord like the most of us here, but swears in this comic feel completely out of place. The story's just too whimsical for that.
>>153961012I think the whole comic is a bit of a mess. With so many characters from three separate works and only a few dozen pages, it reads like a bunch of random events with magic being used only as a plot convenience. There's also pretty much nothing done with the idea of the characters now being older (other than "lol peter doesn't know what horny is"), might've just kept them their canon ages. Also the art's okay but as other anons mentioned, the paneling has no flow to it, like a bunch of panels were cut from a better designed comic and pasted into a notebook.
I liked it. I went to read it once before but I got put off by the art here >>153960446 making it look like it was going to be some modern retelling, but thankfully it isn't. But yes the panel ordering is weirdAlso I want to fuck Wendy
>>153960445Man someone didn't like Alan Moore's Lost GirlsAlso this is the perfect example of why the Webtoon format is utter irredeemable dogshit
>>153960469How come Wendy is allowed to dress like that in Edwardian England? Why does she have knives if she's been in psychiatric hospitals all of the time?
>>153961639this comic isn't great by any means but I'd take it over Lost Girls any time. That one is just edgy for the sake of being edgy
>>153961012Man this really is just PG-13 Lost Girls
>>153961082>the paneling has no flow to it, like a bunch of panels were cut from a better designed comic and pasted into a notebook.I guarantee you this shit was a webtoon before it was put into a book format. Every webtoon that was done like that looks like complete garbage, well more like garbage
>>153960445>brown Wendy>shitty ghibli weeb art styleinto the trash it goes
>>153961784I prefer Lost Girls. That was at least somewhat interesting.
The art is pretty mid, but serviceable.I wish Weir would write the sequel instead of more space romance.
>>153960445WTF?!?THE GUY WHO WROTE THE MARTIAN AND PROJECT HAIL MARY WROTE THIS?!?
>>153960947>>153963501Alice appears to be Asian, as well.
>>153963858And the artist is the one who makes those "Sarah's Scribbles" comics that /pol/ loves to edit.
I can’t get over the format. Looks too weird.
Interesting idea. But there is too much talking and the format makes everything feel disjointed.
>>153960600>Get your hands off me, you damn dirty human!I chuckled
>>153960926>Not telling.>Damn!HAW
>>153962025You absolutely can have a long vertical comic strip that flows well, this never did. Also, you can adapt a webtoon to print without it feeling wonky with some re-framing and dialog rearrangement, but here it seems like they just chopped up long strips into columns and called it a day.
>>153961012Honestly, any scene with Mary Poppins in is great>>153961017Yeah, and the fact that it goes from censored swears to uncensored is even more jarring
>>153960446>mystery meat Dorothy>skin graffiti dyke Wendy>Daria-knockoff Aliceoh boy I wonder where this is going
>>153960768Her happy thought is Dick? I approve.
>>153961017millennials are awful writers. they watched a Pulp Fiction when they were like 14 and it seared into their brain as the "pinnacle of mature storytelling". Quentin Tarantino and his consequences...
>>153961639I can respect the author for going "Fuck you, I'm gonna do it properly" - that needs to happen more often.>>153963858I really like the idea of not staying in a box, writing-wise. Good on him for writing something for his daughters/nieces
>>153965566>I can respect the author for going "Fuck you, I'm gonna do it properly"He kinda did it twice. He'd released the first part of the story with his own art, but he knew it was godawful so he brought on this lady.
I think Dorothy is supposed to have a suntan since she's a Kansas dirt-farmer durring the Depression instead of the daughter of Edwardian socialites like Alice and Wendy.
>>153964503Both of those are purely theoretical because I've never seen it done especially the latter BECAUSE of the way webtoon/longstrip works, best you'll get is a really boring flow because the artistry inherent in paneling is lost
>>153960947this.
>>153965653That's what I assumed as well - no idea why people itt are being so fucking triggered
>>153960835>vorpal bladeO boy, here we go.

>>153960996>what disgusting paneling>>153961639>perfect example of why the Webtoon format is utter irredeemable dogshitYeah. Wow. They didn't even try to format it for print well at all.>>153961639>>153962010>>153963546>Alan Moore's Lost GirlsWhat I thought of when I first saw this at a store.
>>153960445The book is better because he had an editor put it in order
>>153961784This. This one here is just funny stuff that does very obviously not take itself very serious.
wow, I haven't read this since I downloaded pages individually over irc. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Glad Andy made good.

Here's the book's page layout
>>153967371
>>153967371I thought something was strange when I read a few pages earlier, I distinctly remember it not sucking THAT bad.
>>153967371>>153967386Ok I take back some of my criticism. This isn't great paneling but it's far better than whatever the fuck OP has been posting
>>153969751It's a thoroughly decent story, that's the best way I can describe it.The story does mostly what you want, and even has a few twists that you wouldn't expect like the adults being Gulliver and Mary Poppins. The girls have decent characters, though The Wicked Witch and Hook feel a bit flat. The art is serviceable, communicates the story without any issues, though at no point am I ever impressed by anything visually.Everything synthesizes to being a bit more than the sum of it's parts.I bought a physical copy and adore it completely, and recommend it any chance that seems appropriate, and dearly wish they'd make a part 2.I want to see more of the girls hanging out, maybe they can visit Ozma next and enlist her help against the Red Queen.
>>153967371>What happened to my little girl?
>>153970291...tomboy Wendy and Ozma? That should be fun.
>>153960453Took me a couple of pages to figure you're meant to read it in columns. What's up with this weird format?
I liked it, so far. It's not great or anything, but enjoyable enough. If anything, it feels more like a proof of concept. Another pass for tonal inconsistency and better paneling and you could massage this into something really good.>>153966240That's what people on 4chan do these days. Get triggered.
>>153966240>imagine not lining both brown and tanned little girls>>153967371>>153967386Wow, this is WAY better. Why the fuck didn't OP post this version? Send him to Rutledge Asylum for correction.
>>153960445Looks cute
>>153960445Missed opportunity. >Cheshire Crossing>not about 3 cat anthros
>>153961012Didn't hate it near as much as I expected, outside of the odd formatting (as others have mentioned), even liked a couple parts like every scene that had Hook even if the 'romance' was utterly contrived. He's just a fun character in most works. I'd read a continuation if it ever happened, at least. Thanks for storytiming, OP.
>>153960445>>153961639>>153961784>>153963546I'd like to have the story of Lost Girls with the art of CC

>>153966240I think a lot of people think skin color = race.
>>153963858You mean this guys famous?! Well at least he knows he's a mediocre artist and paid a professional for that art.
>>153960445Why are they ethnic?
>>153985232They're not.Alice has slightly sharper eyes to better portray that her resting pulse is completely pissed off, and Dorothy is tanned because she lives on a farm in Kansas.
>>153960445>Cheshire Crossinghaven't thought about it in ten years. I remember reading the original version
>>153984678He did that after becoming famous lol>>153988016
>>153960445As an elderly millennial I am beginning to grow senile and my memories are being lost, like tears in the rain. Nevertheless, I still remember a really fucking funny review of it on John Solomon's YWiBaYSFB circa 2008.
>>153960445The small panel format is interesting.
>>153987937Alice I can understand, thrown into a world that seems to run on dream logic would make one pretty pissed.
>>153988450Through Wonderland and Looking Glass, she was mostly confused and cheeky. This story has her placed in fucking Bedlam before it began.
>>153960445the amount of psychic damage this has inflicted upon me, someone who read the original webcomic as it was published>>153988016glad i'm not the only one here who remembers this
>>153989416That Alice has seen some shit.
