How did the tick come back but earthworm Jim is completely forgotten. To the point the Creator sits on Twitter all day during a drama like Dobson used to doing the old days
If you told me this old artist drew some wacky furry porn back in the day I would believe you
>>153975251Presumably because Ben Edlund didn't spend hours acting the clown on social media. Lesson to be learned there.
>>153975251Not that surprising, aside from creator differences The Tick is a satirical work in all its forms. It's perpetuated by past or present superhero stuff.Earthworm Jim is more surrealism, weird shit was in vogue in the 90s because it was a rarity compared to the simple, conforming presentation that toy companies and networks wanted to streamline production and merch. I'm not sure how to present its significance now.
The fact its a videogame makes it even more baffling when fucking BUBSY came back.
>>153975251I remember some years ago we got this trailer, supposedly for a new animated serieshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRQmwrXBbSkOf course, nothing came out of this. Wonder if it was somehow related to the whole Intellivision Amico fiasco (there was gonna be an Earthworm Jim 4 for that thing).
It wasn't as good.May as well ask why there isn't a Freakazoid reboot or any other series along the same lines.
>>153975251Rights issues. Shiny didn't keep Earthworm Jim. They sold the intellectual property to Interplay Entertainment shortly after the release of Earthworm Jim 2. So the original creators made games like Wild 9/MDK (Dave Perry and Nick Bruty) or The Neverhood/Skullmonkeys (Doug) instead. So for many years you didn't have any good Jim games coming out, and it faded.
>>153975251No idea how it got so popular while being absurdly, ass-breakingly difficult
>>153975373Bubsy 4D is legit good too. I will say that Bubsy 1 isn't as bad as some people think, it's actually pretty decent. It's like a C platformer, but it had a lot of heart and some cool ideas. Big levels with lots of secrets, fun animations and stuff. Gliding around at high speeds feels good when you know the levels and won't die from random crap so easily. I've been replaying it after 4 and I'm enjoying it.Bubsy 2 and 3 sucked balls though. I think those two games and the pilot are what gave Bubsy the meme failure series reputation.
>>153975565Platformers of that type were just expected to be more difficult at the time. It's not like Earthworm Jim was alone in that. The Lion King game Aladdin, Comix Zone, Shinobi, Prince of Persia, Battletoads, can't remember if it was hard but just going to assume Bucky O'Hare, plenty of really hard platformers out in that decade. I guess it's not hard to understand why they started making games easier though when Sonic and Mario did way better commercially than any of those games. Well, actually, maybe the Disney games still did high numbers, but not because they were any good.
>>153975251Ewwww, I HATE worms!!
>>153975251You're a homosexual requesting digital sodomy.>>153975318Just say “Doug is a conservative,” you're not too cool to admit it.
>>153975409You couldn't do it
Better question is where the hell is the third book?
