This was meh.

You're supposed to say it's a revolutionary and inspired work that totally wasn't Alan Moore's self-admitted diatribe against Margaret Thatcher and her even worse replacement.
>>
>>153976323
In a rstrospect, all Alan Moore's comics were meh. His writing is very mid, only pretentious hipsters love him.

Zoomer, stop arguing with yourself. No one wants to debate you.
>>
>>153976323
I kinda liked it, but it is far from revolutionary.
>>
>>153976379
I thought Miracle Man was good. Watchmen was entirely overrated though. This? This is the most painfully average thing I think Moore has ever written. It's like people bought into it because le funny mask face man memes than what the story actually was.

I tried reading this once and dropped it within the first few pages, it was incredibly eyeroll worthy

Shut up I hax u.

What, you think you could do BETTER?
>>
Didn't like it the first time I read it. The second time I kind of got the fact that the main characters are really the fascists, and V is just kind of a force of nature that's coming to knock over their house of cards, and I enjoyed it more.
I still think Moore peaked hard with Swamp Thing.

>this isn't dumb capeslop that spoonfeeds me, it's awful

I think From Hell is better honestly

Nice cope

Imagine OP trying to read From Hell

what’s with these Alan Moore hate threads? Did you piss of the capeshit nerds again?

Maybe you guys are desensitized to totalitarian government.stories. I mean, back when it was written, it was still a novel concept, but now, thanks to YA novels, basically it's really hard to appreciate what made this government seem so uniquely evil if you have to compete with The Hunger Games and Divergent and The Maze Runner... etc. Even if you don't read them, they just muddle the cultural zeitgeist's idea of a totalitarian government.
>>
From Hell>Watchmen>Swamp Thing>League of Extraordinary Gentlemen>Miracle Man>Supreme>For The Man Who Has Everything>Tom Strong>POWER GAP>V for Vendetta>Killing Joke>Fish Rape
I’ve never read Promethea or Top Ten.

comic fans overrate alan moore and most comic writers desu, this two anons are clear examples. He's just mid, and when compared to authors/writers from the traditional mediums this becomes even more apparent.
>>153979824
im so smart i understood the le-facism bad comic
>>
>>153976392
How is Watchmen overrated? It's still a very good comic regardless of the accolades, it's rare to find anything like it so tightly plotted and the artist/writer working in tandem like that to cram as much detail into every panel as humanly possible.
>>
>>153979916
Lol, cope
>>
>>153976323
I liked it a lot, but it has the same problem as Miracleman, in that because of Warrior's cancelation, the flow of the comic was interrupted and never really recovered. At least this one kept the same artist throughout, but it shouldn't have been colorized. The black and white was more suitable.
>>153976392
The idea of evil Batman terrorizing Orwellian England is really fun. I would have preferred a story with a more competent and brutal government like in 1984, but that's not what Moore was going for.
>>153978324
I didn't like the first time either. Preferred it so much more when I read the beginning off of Warrior the second time.
>>
>>153976323
I liked it but it felt almost as anti-anarchism as it was anti-fascist, which is weird coming from Moore, an anarchist supposedly
>>
>>153980725
>What is nuance?
>>
>>153979916
I would put Moore on par with the best sci-fi and genre writers of the time. He's not James Joyce or Faulkner or anything but I like him better than Michael Moorcock.

When's that Pennyworth sequel series getting an update?

If anything, the fact that the fascists in power are just kind of regular people who are slightly pathetic is what's interesting about it.
It's not like they're even all in love with the whole project. They're just pragmatists who are out to look after their own careers, and keep the country running in an orderly fashion, while an anarchist mad-dog threatens to send everything back to the dark ages.

If you've lived in Britain, yeah, that's Britain. That's the British government. They're vile in a benign and pitiable way, moreso than they are scary-evil, which is what the movie got wrong.
