Genuinely curious, why did Cartoon Network start getting more violent and mean-spirited with their shows in the 2010s? Before, their lineup was wholesome and non-violent due to parent groups, but suddenly they had less restrictions in the 2010s with Regular Show having guns and cussing, Teen Titans Go having violent behavior and everyone being an asshole and Gumball also having actual slapstick violence and some asshole behavior. Not to mention Adventure Time and Steven Universe going into heavy and dark subject matter. The only wholesome shows that decade were We Bare Bears and Craig of the Creek, even counting imports and acquired shows.
