Was the decision to release this in theaters worth it?
>>153996161How many suicides do you think will come from this?
Considering that Glitch rushed it, is in a legal dispute with South Korea, got the Movie leaked thanks to Brazil, but will probably make back that investment anyway, it was somewhat worth it but if they do it again with let's say Gameoverse or KoG they will handle it better.
>>153996161noat some point they would have shown the episode to someone not huffing paint, and the feedback would have made them change the ending. it really is that bad.it's not controversial, it's not divisive, it's so universally hated
>>153996161>Make one of the most popular and critically acclaimed animated series of the past decade >Make ONE subpar episode >Everyone calls you a hackTragic
>>153996230The ending of anything if bad can sour the entire thingSee: Mass Effect, GoT, The Boys, etc
>>153996161Watching the trailer for this before Backrooms was embarrassing.
>>153996246>GoT, The BoysGoT had a seasonal decline after the showrunners ran out of material to adapt. The Boys seasonal rot started in season 4 and season 5 is more of a setup for spinoffs than an actual attempt to conclude the story. You also forgot Stranger Things, it was so bad people thought the ending was a bait and switch by the villain.
>>153996180Are jaxfags really that unstable?
>>153996161Yeah it'll make money no problem
>>153996258I still remember when I was in cinemas and one of the trailers was a GTA online update.
>>153996258more embarrassing than watching Backrooms?
>>153996230The ending to a story is the most important part.
>>153996559Less embarrassing than a Star Wars film losing to movies made by guys on their 20s.
>>153996161That decision is why most people dont feel bad that the episodes got leaked. Greedy fucking "indie" studio flew too close to the sun and got rightfully burned.
>>153996161100%, the episode was probably made for less than $100,000 USD and is projected to make 7 million in the US alone. Even with a 50% cut for theaters (3.5 million), that's still a whopping 3,400% profit margin, just from domestic. Any profit this movie rakes in is going to bankroll Glitch's other productions for years, assuming they don't increase their budgets
>>153996680this again?
>>153996161Yes because it leaked and the melty over the ending was spread over before the thing actually came out.
>>153996723>3.5 millionOne minute of 3D animation costs between $15,000 and $50,000. Therefore, a standard television episode (22 minutes) ranges from $300,000 to over $1,000,000.
>>153996469No it will be Ragathafags who wanted her to do more stuff
>>153996161I binged the whole series yesterday, it was pretty boring and all the plot happened in the last two episodes, really don't get the hype
>>153996917Two things to consider is that while 3D TV Animation costs more than 2D TV animation on average, 3D animation can reuse locations and character models which is why it is considered a cheaper investment long term, so The Last act still costs a lot but its budget is likely only 3.5 times the average TADC episode, and I am sure that TADC costs less than the average 3D Cartoon anyway. There is a real chance it cost Glitch more money to get TADC The Last Act in theaters than to make it (And that isn't counting the South Korea legal dispute that could cost them even more money).
>>153996991TADC is a hype ouroboros. the first episode somehow got a lot of views and the series was good enough to keep snowballing off of that. key word being “was”.
>>153997048Glitch is desperate because its golden goose will no longer be available once TADC ends. Currently, the most successful post-TADC pilot (The Gaslight District) has only a quarter of the views that the average TADC episode receives. Even if the Gameoverse pilot receives 50 million views, that would still be only half of TADC's average.
>>153997048>somehow got a lot of viewsIt was designed in a lab to appeal to the YouTube algorithm.
>>153996161Not at all.>Makes everyone already pissed cause you have to essentially pay to not get spoiled>Makes specific regions upset cause even if they were willing to pay they straight up can't>Entire movie leaks so now even people able to see it in theaters and willing to pay are still spoiled>Movie itself isn't all that special and can be summed up as "tranny dies and everyone's happier"
>>153996161They should have just made an actual TADC movie This is just two episodes stitched together
>Controversy over the decision to release it in theaters first.>Creator, VAs, and anyone else involved in the show get's involved in their own controversy (or plural) the following week.>Leaks weeks before its intended release.>Unanimous agreement that it's shit.Is it the most disastrous ending to series ever?

>>153997321Game of Thrones singlehandedly destroyed the series' cultural impact, and that was one of the biggest pop culture phenomena of all time.In terms of /co/ probably not, Star Vs. ending destroyed any goodwill people had over the entire series and made people realize that the first two seasons were not that good.
>>153996230Whats funny is the episode is actually perfectly in line with the rest of the show people just cant cope their fanfic theories will come true anymore

>>153996230It's one subpar episode that drastically cut everything that had been building up from every other episode out of the story. The literal fucking main/second main plot of the show, what are abstractions, why do they happen, how did Caine cause them to start, why does Caine modify their minds but insists he doesn't, LITERALLY GETS FORGOTTEN ABOUT.
>>153996161I feel like it caused a rushed release that led to the ending having a lot of issues they'd have caught or handled better with more production time To the point I feel like the end of episode 8 kinda works as the ending for me just fine.
>>154003734Episode 8 was good
>>154004154>Glitch totally would've pushed back on the militant cultist shoving his self-described "self-indulgence" into the series they hired him to make>it's not like he'd immediately tell the world that Glitch went against (read: decided a state of exception for) their promise of "creator freedom"---and, more importantly, "trans voices"---just to sic other militant cultists on the studio like the rabid dogs they always were
>>154004178And it also made episode 7 not a meaningless development, episode 7 setup what happened in episode 8Episode 9 just is eh, feels like there was a lot of punches pulled. Abstraction almost had a more interesting reveal to what goes on with it so that's infuriating. Being stuck in your head in a realm of a subverse to the digital circus with no growth or escape from it possible, a mad lonely god of a tiny realm just like Caine is was right there and it looked like they were doing that. But the questions just pile on from there like I still don't understand why queenie abstracted if it's isolation that normally causes it.
>>154004226I was referring to how Caine and the way abstraction as a concept was handled but okay
>>154004281You're right; if Glitch wanted a principled state of exception, they wouldn't have onboarded a castration cultist like Cooper Goodwin in the first place.
Remember that flashback in episode 3 where Kinger talks about his abstracted wife being calm in the dark and you see him put his hand on her?Why didn't he see her mindscape if she had also just abstracted?
>>154004305I don't care about what worx the goose, that was a factor from the start so it can't just be that deal.
>>153999853>Please do not keep reading if you're sensitive to disturbing topics. I'm serious, I'm going to mention self harm.>So, I'm a suicidal person, I have been for a lot of my life, and the previous year was one of the worst years I've ever experienced. People just tortured me and stalked me and I ended up coming out of that situation having had to isolate myself from people I cared about who also cared about me, who I've completely cut contact with. I've done this before. I keep erasing my entire online personality, because I don't want to exist. I grew up with serious trauma, awful shit happened to me, sexual abuse, homophobic harassment, pedophiles taking advantage of me, being groomed into extreme ideologies.>Jax, to me, was one of my only symbols of having hope for the future. His personality is so similar to mine that I took umbrage with the fact that I thought he'd pull through and so should I. I thought that Gooseworx of all people would understand the importance of letting this specific character pull through. She didn't.>What we got was Jax fucking killing himself and having a panic attack as the last moment we see of him. He's terrified, remorseful, just wants to stay and make things right, but no, instead, Caine gets to come back, while they keep Jax as a pet. They paint his face on a wall while they keep a leash on him like an animal.>I have self harmed many times through my whole life and this ending has caused it to happen multiple times again. It doesn't even make things feel better. I just wanted Jax to pull through. That's fucking it. That's all I needed to see. Fuck.KEK, this ending was so bad that it's driving trannies into suicide

>>154004357>tranny makes ending so bad it sends other trannys running to join the forty one percent cluban acceptable enough outcome i suppose
>>154004311You really have to disregard any notion that goose had any of this planned out from the start. I know, goose literally said otherwise, but that ending was so bad that I can't imagine even the broad-strokes were planned by episode 2. Like, if the entire centerpiece of the ending is supposed to be this tragic character study, why did that character's arc not start until halfway through the series? If huge plot points are simply "come as the may", you can't rely on any dialog having any over-arching consistency or forethought.
>>154004458Still holding out hope (however unlikely) that the ending sucked because it wasn't finished yet and the actual theatrical release will fix shit.
>>154004726this is cope beyond belief, but I guess it's not as much so as the retards parroting that the whole thing is actually a fake.
>>154000616>>154000642No one even said slurs. A fan in chat had 'nega' in their name (as in negative) and it caught everyone by surprise, and they laughed because it sounded like a slur. That's literally it.
>>154004458I think it's just "unconventional" pacing, getting the supporting cast out of the way first to make room for the dark horseI don't think she pulled it off in the slightest, but I can kinda see the intent. Jax's whole deal is he doesn't want anyone to really get to know the real him.Where it fails though is he definitely wants people to know the fake him, so having him do so little in the first 3 episodes doesn't really make that much sense. If anything he should have been in Pomni's face trying to establish this idea of who he is, only for it to be dismantled laterAnd then once we do start getting to know him through 4-6, he openly reveals way too much way too easily for someone who's supposed to be as closed off as he is, so his arc overall falls completely flat
>>154004257>why queenie abstractedAbstraction is suicide. And suicide is always a choice. One taken by selfish cowards.

>>153998260The episodes bundled into a movie runtime are so dialogue light does it even matter? Also >Implying Direct translation of some jungle portugues curse to shit instead of "he fucked up, he fucked us" doesn't make or break the dialogue. The first 20 minutes is just le clever talking around the gang all coming to the realization they're not real human beans, then they mope around mostly dialogue free until the Jax femboy domestic violence variety hour starts with pomni's vision quest. Then it's backer wank/indulgent staff cameo nonsense as your emotional ending that now definitely won't land in this sea of seethe and controversy. Running it through audio transcription before watching the early leaks without subs I was shocked at how small the script output was, but timecode by timecode that was actually all there was to the thing.

>>154011479Even if you're watching it for free, you're still watching castration-cult propaganda.
>>153997117Genuinely no idea why this is a narrative piece. It could easily be an episodic show where Caine takes them on like, twenty episodes worth of adventures before having a finale two or three-parter. This was not SOMA, it did not need to have a three-act story told over eight episodes.
>>154013274Goose probably wanted a serialized story and even with its popularity and (IIRC) Glitch wanting more episodes Goose decided to just end it with a final act instead of having filler with the occasional lore episode. One of independent animation's biggest drawbacks (even if Glitch is now the animation company equivalent of AA Gaming) is that the lack of time and resources means less episodes and so those episodes have cover a lot of stuff and there is no time to breathe (Gameoverse's pilot feels more like part 2 of an 1 hour pilot movie, for example).
>>154013369But I just don't buy Goose wanting that because the overall series when put together as a serial doesn't actually tell a complete story just feels like a mish mosh of half-episodic, half-serial. When someone wants something, it suggests the have a completed picture in their head and they just need to iron out the details. This seemed entirely like "making it up as you go along". We also have much simpler cartoons that were capable of worldbuilding, serial storytelling, character growth, and episodic adventures done in ways where "filler episode" wasn't a complaint because it didn't apply.

>>154017281>Waaaaah, Trannies! Waahhh
>>154017281Jesus fucking Christ, I acquired the hormones of a woman, the tits of a woman, and the pussy of a woman, and it cost a shit ton of money and dilation time! What more do you people need before I can finally be seen for the woman I truly am??
>>154017315>waaaaah, he's not capitulating! waahhh!>>154017352You cannot.
>>154017443Yes I can!I'll just make a 9-episode animated web series where one character is revealed to be trans in episode 3 so that no one sees another trans reveal coming! Then in episode 9 we will get the big trans reveal! And they will kill themselves in the same episode! This will be so shocking that everyone will be super sad and empathetic for trans people and then they'll have to see me for who I am!
>>154017027Possibly. But I'd like to think that the yellow/green gummy color mixes with cum to be just a little bit whiter, thus not returning completely to normal. And with each session, his skin gets a bit whiter, with the whiteness slowly spreading from his ass to the rest of his skin!
>>154015984>Gloink Queen gets a cameo in the finale.>Gummigoo doesn't.Seriously wtf.>>154016599It was fucking legendary. On retrospect the problems were apparent in ME2's plot being a massive waste of time with a conflict that should've taken 5 minutes to resolve if the reaper denial wasn't being forced in, and its DLC wasting even more time, and most of ME3 itself being pretty bad, but when you got to the final parts just to watch this little glowing shit walk up and basically tell you it's all ending how he demands it end. It wasn't just how bad the writing was, it was them getting some shitty little kid to basically hold it hostage that was insult to injury, and to top it all off after the credits they tell you 'now you can expand Shepard's legend through purchasable DLC!' and the day-one DLC was literally on the disk already and could be unlocked via hacking albeit with some missing cutscenes.More importantly it was one of the moments when a lot of gamers realized GOTY awards and ratings were rigged by how many ads the publishers bought.I didn't watch Korra so can't compare the two.
>>154017917Sovereign was meant to be LordGenome, Reapers were meant to be Anti-Spiral, Dark Energy was meant to be Spiral Nemesis ... unfortunately Mac&Casey didn't want to do TTGL, so ME2 became dirty dozen to give them time to figure out how to utterly fuck things up.
>>154018297I remember reading about the original Dark Energy ideas, it made 10x more sense than "we must kill you all or you'll make robots that will kill you all".Another thing with that was the indoctrination theory craze I took part in also is what kept me out of being obsessed with any TADC theories here, I've been lost in that sauce before... I also remember people bringing up Evangelion when discussing it back then and it made me think it must've been a shit series high on its own farts too, Goose listing it as an inspiration was a crimson flag for me and is one of the reasons I didn't have high expectations on the ending going in.Lotta overlap now that I think about it...
>>154018297>>154018440So why do the Reapers only ever say that their motives are incomprehensible to our puny minds if they're supposedly acting to preserve the universe? Why are is everything about them so flagrantly malevolent?
>>154018694Bad writing and no single coherent idea for what they were about that was stuck to for the 3 games. It's just like with the Institute in Fallout 4. Some variation of "You cannot understand" usually means the writers never figured it out themselves or know their logic is fucked. It CAN work but only if you treat the threat like a force of nature that isn't meant to be understood. With ME though, the original Dark Energy idea was that using element zero at all sped up the entropy of the universe, meaning literally everything would die forever, so the reapers would let life evolve to the point where they were using element zero for transportation, then cull them to keep the problem from getting out of control while hoping they could given enough time and perhaps with new knowledge the latest cycle gained figure out a solution... it's not perfect but it makes sense enough. Then the original idea was swept away and replaced with basically nothing until the last minute, where the idea became "we're killing you to stop you from creating robots that might kill you".
>>153997948Not really. You can disagree with it, but it's very clear in what it's saying.
>>154019318>it makes sense enoughNot really. Just come out and say "Hey, element zero is killing the universe. Stop using element zero."
>>154019422That's where the idea of "hey maybe this cycle discovered something new that could contribute to a solution" came in.I forget the whole thing but I think that was why the reapers left relays and information about element zero operating in areas where it looked like the next intelligent life would spring out from. They wanted the cycle to grow, learn to use element zero, and hopefully learn of the problem and contribute towards some kind of solution, while stopping it before it got out of hand. The only alternative was to kill everything smart. The hardest to believe part of this was that in all the millions of years the reapers themselves came up with fuck all other solutions.I didn't mean it was perfect, they probably dropped it for that reason but unfortunately they had nothing to replace it with and gambled last second on retarded shit.
>>153996161PLAPni
Is Goose still crying?
>>153997423So it's about the level of Star Vs but not quite to the level of a Game of Thrones. Possibly because it's not long enough to have the same impact when it crashes. Still, it's too soon to say when it has yet to really end. It can get far, far worse.
>>154020699As long as he's somehow still allowed to pursue creative work, he's crying all the way to the bank.>>154021622>it's about the level of Star VsCorrect, that show was never good either.
>>154001546Nigger. They are literally devaluing freedom. They are making it worth less by placing things above it. Nigger, please reconsider how you see the world.
>>154021641>They are literally devaluing freedomCorrect; their hypocrisy betrays what a sorry joke an ideology around freedom truly is. You'd think we would've learned that lesson in 1798, but...>They are making it worth less by placing things above itNigger, things are already above it; namely, an orderly and high-trust society, which is completely antithetical to liberal subversion and the various oikophobic cults that it spawned over the last 250 years.
>>154021754Interesting perspective, I can see some merit to it. Sure would be a shame if I used my position as the ruling party to censor you, wouldn't it?
>>154021938This isn't the board for LARPing, fren.
>>154022069It was an example of the problem with your nonetheless well thought out ideas. The Amazing Digital Circus fans who attack voice actors for laughing over the word Nega is a problem that doesn't seem like it would necessarily be solved by ethnocentrism, nationalism, or even a high trust society. In fact in some permutations of the first two it could be made even worse.
>>154022298>[Circus Shit] fans who attack voice actors for laughing over the word Nega is a problemFor the voice actors who welcome oikophobic bigotry under the guise of extreme empathy, not anyone else. The problem solves itself the second one of them grows a spine and says nothing wrong was done, but that would disentangle the sunk cost that led to all six or seven of them having multiple semi-in-character livestreams where they raise money for the castration cult and its multiple tax-exempt chapters, and doing that would be like finding out you and some three-quarters of the global population enrolled themselves and many of their loved ones into a depopulation program five years ago...
>>153996991middest show ive seen idk how this shit got mainstream besides its bright colors and toddler friendly style im assuming its mostly preteen viewers
>>154023242"Mid" is a compliment, knowing who made it and why he probably made it that way. Even before I found that out, the pilot was still sub-mediocre.
