They live at a flying fortress above New York City.>Begins with Tek Knight complaining to his therapist that his sexual compulsion has cost him the seventh spot vacated by the death of Lamplighter.>CIA director Susan Raynor suspects Vought is planning something due to newly elected President Daniel Cleveland locking them out of state affairs and recruits Butcher to assemble the Boys and find out what it is.>A-Train accidentally kills Hughie’s girlfriend Robin. Butcher recruits him. Vice-President Victor Neuman will take over and give Vought unlimited power.>The Boys attack the fortress and fight the Seven, injecting them with stolen V-Prime in order to use a device made by Tek Knight that reproduces the bagpipes’ sonic frequency to blow off their heads.>Starlight gets injected, the Seven overpower the Boys, she realizes what the plan is and triggers the device, willing to sacrifice herself to stop them. The Seven all die, but Starlight survives because Hughie sabotaged her injection.>Raynor intercepts the plane transporting the supervillains and use mass-produced sonic devices to kill them all.>Tek Knight finds out his sexual compulsion is caused by a brain tumor and has it removed. He also begins dating Starlight.>With the Seven dead, Vought CEO James Stillwell meets Thomas Godolkin to turn his private army of young supes, the G-Men, into Vought’s next big superhero franchise, setting up a sequel. The intended cast was Simon Pegg as Hughie, Russell Crowe as Butcher and Aaron Eckhart as Homelander. Here's the full script.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pfBjCLf6gdsmXb7CsQhTv3_9GzCKGyuV/view
>2008, I am forgotten>2019, I am forgotten
>>1539997002008. I thought the Boys was only maed recently?
>>153999700Glad this never happened cause I don’t like to think how it would have impacted the comic. With that being said, I would have liked to see them make the Legend a mean-spirited jab at Stan Lee like how Ennis writes him. Kripke was too bitch made to go down that route.
>>154000180The original Comic book is like 20 years old.
>>153999700Why has there never been an attempt at a Transmetropolitan show? Would it be too (((controversial)))?
>>154000180I bet the original comic is older than you pipsqueak
>>154000286There was. They even almost got Patrick Stewart involved for one iteration of the project. But for some reason or other it never happened.
>>153999700This is only 2 years after the comic started, was it that popular?
>>154000424There’s gotta be like 100 comics from the 21st century alone that got optioned for a TV show/movie after only 15 issues just to never get picked up. Ennis is one of the few guys who will actually finish his comic regardless of whether it gets picked up.
>>154000180>>154000219>>154000307The comic came out in 2008, so how were they planning a sequel?
>>153999700>Black Noir is a foul-mouthed misanthrope and not a Homelander clone.I get that this script was written long before the twist and that they were just going to kill him off here along with everyone else but I don't quite get it regardless. And what was the show's excuse to not include the twist? The best I can figure is that they prefered for Homelander to become evil on his own accord instead of being gaslit into it, but you kinda miss the point of the character if does it on his own, he loves the unwarranted admiration he gets from being a fake hero too much to ever care about being more than a wanker.
>>154000424The script is dated December 2009, I don't know where OP got the 2008 fromBut a lot of times Hollywood might see something and get interested in optioning it, even if the story isn't finished yet (case in point: Harry Potter). Also since this draft was finished in late 2009 you can see that it was reacting to some things at the time (Hulk and Iron Man just had their movies out in 2008, The Dark Knight was a hit in 2008, Transformers had a movie in 2007)
>>154000424No, it wasn't. It was optioned based on Garth Ennis' name recognition and like >>154000461 said, he is known for actually finishing the project.>>154002133 is also right that comic book movies were becoming the hottest thing in Hollywood at the time right on the coattails of IronMan and TDK. But the studio would have done market research, i.e., looking at how much brand recognition The Boys comic had and found it was next to nil with general audiences, so they ultimately shelved the project indefinitely. It would have stayed a "literal who" title known only to a handful of edgelords if Amazon hadn't decided to pick it up and cast Karl Urban as Butcher.
>>154000180Dumbass.
>>153999700Neat
>>153999700>>153999710Who else would realistically be cast in the late 2000s/early 2010s movie version of this?
>>154003943>Butcher: Daniel Craig>Hughie: Simon Pegg (duh)>Frenchie: Jean Claude Van Damme>Mother's Milk: Samuel L. Jackson>Female: Lucy Liu>Homelander: Mark Wahlberg>Maeve: Rebecca Romijn>Starlight: Ellen Page>The Deep: Chris Rock>A-Train: Ryan Reynolds>Beastie: Dolph Lundgren>Black Noir: Johnny Depp
>>154004882Starlight should be Alice Eve
>>154000424It was VERY popular and it was story timed consistently on this board. Which I did not care about. Both The Boys and Invincible were in the hay day of Marvels ULTIMATE.
>Simon PeggYeah, I’m good, thanks.
>>153999700Fake and gay like op
>>154001332It wasn't in the show because it was a loose adaptation, since people already knew the twist, they removed it.
>>154000156Shouldn’t have been a bald ass bitch
>>154000215>I would have liked to see them make the Legend a mean-spirited jab at Stan Lee like how Ennis writes himIt would have been funny if they actually managed to get Stan Lee to cameo as him. He was already basically showing up in every Marvel movie at that point.
>>154004882Early 2010s, anon. Not early 2000s.
>>154000180I fucking hate zoomers.Next you'll tell me Invincible is recent
>>154004882I wanna see this femHomelander suck dick
>>154003943>Russell Crowe as Butcher>Simon Pegg as Hughie (even though he was too old by then)>Idris Elba as Mother's Milk>Matthias Schoenaerts as Frenchie>Maggie Q as The Female>Amanda Seyfried as Starlight>Aaron Eckhart as Homelander>Scott Adkins as Black Noir>Rosamund Pike as Queen Maeve>Ryan Reynolds as A-Train>Jeffrey Wright as The Deep>Timothy Olyphant as Tek Knight
>>154005140He has the right to be Hughie.
>>153999700crazy
>>154006288>Even though he was too old by thenLil' Hughie is a pudgy bald guy anon.
>>154006275And eat shit?
>>154000286>controversialTransmetropolitan is the definition of safe edgy.
>>154001332>And what was the show's excuse to not include the twist? It's stupid
>>1540005712006. The second movie was meant to have the G-men as the main antagonists
>>154006288>even though he was too old by thenIn 2009? Bro only got famous in 2004.
