The cartoon is canon in the sense that it is an outright propaganda cartoon in-universe based around real people.The in-universe but not in-cartoon Nikolai Malthus attempted a lawsuit about it and when the Lyran judge refused to recognize Clan law, he issued a Batchall against the judge.

>>154005000I was just thinking about how the firestarter is little more than a walking warcrime but frankly...any mech with a few small and medium lasers would just as equally as terrifying to poor fuck on foot.as for the cartoon if you like the setting odds are you will maybe not "love it" but you'll appreciate certain aspects of it, like it's very toyetic and silly at times but it's always played as serious as a heart attack. it really is a mixed bag, one moment it'll look pretty good and then instantly cut to a shot where just every mech looks horribly scuffed, ugly as sin even at times but it has oddly solid writing and lore stuff. somebody cared for sure.
>>154005661To be somewhat fair to them, they did try to do CGI for good chunks of it in a TV show using pre-Toy Story levels of tech.They took an insanely hard route to make things look good even before budget and other quality concerns come up.
