It made it seem really mysterious and hyped up, TMNT had been dormant for 5 years and if you were under a certain age like me you probably had only the slightest cultural osmosis knowledge of TMNT. It did a great jo making me anticipate the next few months, it was almost like a promise that if you stuck around the Fox Box in the first rough few months it'll be worth it. I think the 03 TMNT was probably the best 80's reboot of the 2000's. It managed to reintroduce the property in a way most other reboots didn't pull off. Transformers is the only other one that managed to be successful.

Which is a lot, but there were 155 episodes of the show. so saying it went to shit after 116 episodes isn't really as big a deal as it seems. It went through two entire show runs of at least decent episodes
