In retrospect I think it would have gotten old eventually. Season 3 did provide some cool shit like the Halloween episode, Squim and the Robot dude, but I don't think it pushed the characters as much as Season 2 had already done. It was more of the same, which was still okay but IDK if they could've kept going.
My sincere opinion is that it was Zach Hadel’s kinda flippant attempt to launch a career using a show that has subcutaneous-but-not-hidden attacks against blacks, Jews, atheists, non-nationalists, pornographers, Muslims, sex workers, cooks, hippies, feminists, male feminists, and immigrants, and that he thought it would be funny if he could stick it to Rick & Morty by having that show beat them out on that network, but he was too stupid to realize people would notice he was doing it on purpose. He got fired, the show is dead, and now he is going to be slumming it in the Christian cartoon market with Hartman, which will force him to eat crow and admit the schizo was right if he doesn’t want to die in poverty.

>>154007241I liked the show but I'm noticing a pattern where nearly all modern cartoons are produced with the design philosophy of beginning with the beginning in-mind & winging it instead of beginning with the end in-mind & working backwards to tie events together, creating a problem where none of the creators have any clue where to go with their own shows & end up having very shitty or non-existant endings as a result. You can expect every modern cartoon to have terrible later seasons, drastic dips in quality, and rushed & anticlimactic endings because none of them think about what conclusion they even want for their cast of characters.
It's not the worst thing to air on television. Smiling Friends is a decent show that has some good laughs but it's not something that has rewatch value. It seems like the creators wanted to do more with plots, characters, and background gags but had to restrain themselves.
