I 100% get what you mean, but also one of the draws for me is that it's this super dense story that's been going on for decades and all the characters keep reappearing in different stages of their lives. Like the current special here has been delightful just to have all the mystery kids back together in one place again. He's admittedly gotten a lot more tame about it since Scary-Go-Round, where essentially if your name wasn't Shelly Winters you were prone to turning evil or dying or getting kidnapped in any given appearance (and Shelly does all that too, she's just very resilient).

A lot of peopl soured on ho Ssteeples just fell over in a short ending coda or him deciding not to follow up on Jack beiung trapped in the 90s bu brush it off as an event. But that's how Alison does things.
