Holy hell, feminists ruin yet another piece of work. I did a rewatch of Rick & Morty just for the hell of it and I couldn't get past season 4. The writer quality drops hard. I had to read up to see when the shift came and it seemed to hit right around season 3 - 4. And took a look at a random episode in a later season and any charm is gone.

It's was better than Beth trying to make art with horse hooves or trying to fix Rick's machine. I do like that no matter what they try and do with Brth character she always slinks back to Jerry.

I get the feeling there was a writer in the room who wanted that to be the point. Fundamentally, Space Beth is a version of Beth who ran from the reality of their life right around the time that Beth and Jerry were starting to develop as characters.In season 4, we genuinely see that those two have learned to cope to some extent. We even see what happens when Season 2 Jerry comes back and makes a mistake season 4 Jerry wouldn't.Space Beth, imo, works best when you keep her the badass girlboss type but also keep in mind that she is running from things and ultimately, is "Rick's daughter", prone to similar behavior to him. She ran from her family, life, her children, even what was (at that point) the uncertainty surrounding her divorce from Jerry. Her new "liberated" identity is heavily influenced by her relation to Rick while regular Beth actually seems to be the one with the more rounded life and individual personality. I feel like that's really what the episode needed. An end credits sting where she realizes she just engaged with Jerry like that after the shit she gave regular Beth for getting back together with him.Essentially showing she has the same kind of unhealthy attachment issues that Rick himself does.
