Let us read every TMNT comic ever made. This is going to be a long one. This is the reading order I am using.https://eliasrwrites.ghost.io/tag/so-you-want-to-read-tmnt/Previous thread >>154001132

One thing I have to say about the “Gamaraph” storyline, the 4kids cartoon made the right decision making it Donatello who was transformed. It made for a much more compelling story and the drama that came with the brains of the four being turned into a mindless beast was palpable
>>154017627is... is that a... a-a- a naked man!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAA SAVE ME TURTLEMAN I'M GOING INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE
>>154017649Leo is not a normal mutant turtle, he is also a shaman and a champion of giant turtles spirit.
>>154017748my man!
At what point do these stop being violent? I just picked up a TPB of the original comics and didn't know if I should get the next 2 or 3 volumes
>>154018799totoro
>>154019471Hate this one...
End.
>>154019509Me whenever I see you post.
>>154018041>>154018050>>154018063>>154018063>>154018069>>154018084>>154018092Honestly, Leo is kind of Innocent in this, how can he expect revenge to be rational? Sometimes, the only way to stop hatred is to kill them all, until no one is willing to avenge them.
I'm pretty sure Laird must have read some TMNT fan comics and incorporated similar content into his own comics.
>>154017090When I first discovered the TMNT website this was the latest issue advertised on it.Feels weird to read it now for the first time.
>>154018222>and the big tits cost me extra!
>>154018332Mikey definitely has game
>>154017970What a terrible line
>>154018026Why you lyin' to him about bushido, Leo? Revenge is like 30% of bushido! Besides, you're both ninja, bushido ain't shit to ninja. You guys didn't take Shredder to the police, you murdered the shit out of him in an impersonal revenge for him killing your master's master. This is wildly out of character for Leo, IMO. Still, I guess it's a pretty cool story anyway
>>154018345Volumes 1-3 are fine, this part is V4, which is Larid's own thing done years after the original Mirage run ended, and yes, the lack of Eastman results in a significant drop in the amount of action and excitement.
>>154018478Come on, Laird, can't she just make bad decisions and tell Leo to piss off on her own? Does everything have to be so convoluted?
>>154018727"Loup-Garoupies" sounds more like a Mikey or Donatello line
>>154018934Goongala!
>>154017741>>154017748>all that careful paneling previously to make sure not to show her naked from the front>just to reveal total Barbie anatomyLame
>>154018222>Utrom thinking cap
>>154022061Modern bushido. I also remember bushido of sengoku period, "the lower rules the higher" was most common thing in this era.
>>154019325I think that's 3 goongalas now! Maybe four if you count that first one as two in a row.
>>154023128Bushido is modern, it dates to like the 18th century. And revenge is 100% a big part of it. See the 47 Ronin.
>Leo:>"If you choose revenge, you go down a dark path that leads to a cycle of violence, where your revenge leads them to get worm-based revenge on you, then you get revenge on the worm revenger, and he dies and then you can make peace, and everything's okay after that, ending the cycle of violence.">"Can't you see how horrible that is?"
>>154022309"A woman's heart is a needle at the bottom of the sea."
>>154023957I don't get how your quote applies to my complaint.
>>154023598But we know that's bullshit and it always depends on each person. Some people can let go of their burdens and easily say goodbye to their past after taking revenge.
>>154018332In the future timeline, probably only Mirage Raph is still a virgin. Donnie may have already slept with Renet.
Reading bump
>>154017090bump
>>154017692more dinosaur than turtle.
>>154022222Checked
>>154019780I'm feeling some Feudal Japan™ tier melancholy here.
>>154023499Then we could easily see Leo's point here. From Bushido point of view, a killer of ones lord or father is marked for death.Meanwhile, Ocho was going after someone who had killed his wife.Bitches mean nothing to bushido.
POOM
>>154027864kek, technically correct! but ninjas don't give a shit about bushido either way. that's for samurai
>>154030064Very much true!Unless they work for the shogunate, then their boss at least has to give some damn about honor
>>154019383>>154019392This is again Laird setting up something interesting and then choosing the most boring possible resolution. Imagine if Leo stumbled upon badly injured Leatherhead and the two decided to track down the monster. Sure, a classic misunderstanding leading to comic violence, but it would be better than just talking.
>>154030064>>154030293speaking of ninja, I read a very interesting article that says the origins of the ninja can be traced back to communal village leagues of Iga province and their resistance against warlords like Nobunaga. pretty cool stuff.
>>154031912The Real life ninja were spies and at most saboteurs, correct?
>>154032154Spies, saboteurs, assassins. Funny enough, most ninja were samurai who were willing to get their hands dirty from dishonorable acts.
Samurai actually liked firearms. On the battlefield, they more commonly used bow, spears or other long-handled weapons. They also did not reject using dishonorable means to defeat their enemies on the battlefield.
>>154032154more like guerrilla fighters, as per the article.
>>154032488>They also did not reject using dishonorable means to defeat their enemies on the battlefieldDepends on who you mean, when it was, and what "dishonorable" means. Bushido was not codified until the 18th century; if you asked 10 different samurai from 10 different provinces in 1600 what the way of the warrior (ie "bushido") should be, you'd likely get 10 different answers back then. Chanbara novels and movies like to pretend it was codified because it saves a lot of talking and arguing about stuff. It makes for better drama and action if there's a "bushido" that all the characters agree upon, and that is understood by the viewer.
>>154031912IDW Shredder may have fought against Oda Nobunaga's army in feudal Japan, but was ultimately defeated by his musketeers. This humiliating defeat was likely the reason he later hated guns.
