>>154019338My theory is that Nefcy had no idea the show was going to continue passed the Battle for Mewni arc. iirc that was originally going to be a full length TV movie but they split it into a bunch of episodes. Everything immediately after that feels more discombobulated than a Cuban bodyguard. The immediately speedrunning a Jarco breakup, the way Eclipsa just sort of shifted from the big bad who created evil magic to a misunderstood wholesome racemixing granny, two Villain of the Day characters instead inheriting that role (Meteora, who at least had some buildup, and the literal who Sailor Moon parody), the real lack of a plot focus after killing Toffee and the sudden whitewashing of all the bad shit the monsters did. The whole of season 3 and 4 just became a poorly thought out "Refugees Welcome" message that ended with magic (a stand in for white culture/civilization) being eradicated.The only DTVA show that handled its ships worse was Hailey's On It. And even then, they were actually building toward something good in the final episode, only for the out of nowhere JEET being inserted in right at the precise moment the west was getting sick of fecaloids.
