I find it odd that uhhhhh.... they essentially made the same uhhhh.... short three times.
Rabbit Transit is definitely the best of the three, yes indeed it uhhhhh.... is.

Each one was a different director putting their spin on the old story.

Its interesting because Avery's feels the most plot oriented. It's still a Looney Tunes short but its concept could easily be a fable akin to that of the original.
Clampett's feels a bit more out there, with the Rabbit mob and whatnot but otherwise felt underwhelming in my opnion.
Freleng's is easily the most absurd, and even though it reuses a good few gags from Tortoise Wins by a Hare, I feel they were better executed there.

Rabbit Punch and Bunny Hugged are samey, too. But they're both Jones and I think they recycle more than the Cecils did.

Remakes were more important and seen as less of a problem before the advent of home media.
>>
The same jokes can be a problem but Cecil being the only one to fuck Bug's day up is great. The only other time I've seen Bug's lose his shit are with the Gremlin and the Three Bears. Cecil is the best

WB also did Rabbit Fire/Rabbit Seasoning/Duck, Rabbit,Duck all with the same writer and director. It wasn't taboo. And exhibitors encouraged repeating a successful cartoon theme right up until the moment the audience got tired of it.

Elmer got a couple rare wins, too. The first in Duck Amuck's semi-sequel Rabbit Rampage when he becomes the animator and gets to torment Bugs, and again in a later short when he as a crazy millionaire acts like a rabbit and Bugs is sent after him as as the hunter.
>>
Now imagine making the same short a dozen times

I fucking HATE Hippity Hopper.

Watching all three shorts thanks to this thread, kek. Cecil's such an asshole but that's why he's great

The entire Roadrunner/Wile E cartoon series were the one joke but spread out over about 20-30 shorts.

Those held up because the ways in which coyote failed were pretty creative each time, tho they did repeat a few ones.

The whole point was to fund the cheapest series of Looney Tunes shorts on a near zero budget for tv.
No voices
Plain backgrounds
No musical score
Bottom level budget cartoons to keep the Looney Tunes name alive for bottom level budget tv in the worst era of cartoons.

Warner was also producing Pink Panther cartoons at the same time. Those did not even have background 90% of the time and played the same song throughout every single episode.

WB didn't produce Pink Panther, those were done by DePatie-Freleng.
>>
Cecil was so fucking awesome
>>
>>154019878
except it's not the same short three times. are you stupid?
>>
Having the hare actually win but get thrown in jail for it is a pretty clever modern subversion desu
