Yu Yevon knew exactly what right or wrong was. He was just the embodiment of the actual seething of all the summoners that almost died to Zanarkand and the Machinas. They knew exactly that they were being petty retards by locking Spira in a cycle of destruction just so they could put down any chances of Zanarkand or machines to ever put their summoning power in check ever again.
