Getting back into collecting. What's my opinion on original singles vs. omnis/tbps? Assuming the price difference isn't hundreds of dollars of course.
I'm looking to finish a couple sets I started a long time ago, but I'm also trying to decide if I want to finish off entire series with the compendiums or spend the money to keep buying the original singles. These series are:-Hellboy-Goon-The Simpsons-I Hate Fairyland (second run)
And then there's stuff like The Mask and The Boys where I just can't decide what is more worth it to me...spending more for the originals or buying the tbps that always tend to fall apart after a few years

Even back issues are overpriced, I went to collect Spawn issues and comics that were like a buck ten years ago are now being sold for double digits. TPBs are your best option if you're just looking for a way to read. Omnibuses look nice but are a pain in the ass to try to actually read and, if you're wanting Marvel stuff, is likely out of print and going for triple cover price. Single issues are really only good if you're wanting to collect. Digital or TPBs are your best options for actually reading.
>>154026668Good to know, thank you.I think my only real gripe is the "cool" factor. Single issues are just neat.
>>154026816Yeah, I agree. What I do is get digital copies to read and for my favorite stuff like Spawn I get a physical copy to have
