Drop the whole deep lore bullshit and focus on the funny side of the show. That's what it made Season 1 so succesful: a quirky Princess from another dimension messing around with his latino buddy and kicikng some retarded villains asses.
Also keep the same studio animation from Season 1. Everything after that looked cheap and sloppy.

Have it redo season 4's story and have it be about Marco discovering his moon powers, his human friends coming back such as Jackie and her GF, joining in, and it builds up to the lizard guy coming back for one final hurah

Keep Marco with Jackie
Drop the 'deep mewni lore' stuff, it was dumb.
Focus more on stand alone adventures with maybe 1 single overarching plot per season.
Have things matter, like marco being in his 30s technically instead of just forgetting that. Not saying have him be a different character, but have him bring it up more as why he has a skill or has trouble relating / fitting in.
Remove pony head.
Remove the poor monster racism allegory. You can still have star be the one who can sympathize and work on integrating monsters to mewni, but the American racism comparisons are dumb.

What I missed about the early episodes was that Star had your typical "rich girl bully" character, but she was played entirely straight too, commenting on Star's retarded behavior and showing no signs of a redemption arc whatsoever. Then they just sort of dropped her out of nowhere, /sveg/ joked about stuff like Nefcy getting PTSD from a Stacy being on her show, or racism, but truth is we have no knowledge why she dropped her and a bunch of others from season 1. Probably one of the biggest red flags early on is characters that are threatening are gradually depowered, redeemed, or removed. TGAMM had the same problem.
