>>154045097Define "hard"
>>154048996Not OP but the costume and personality both sucked. The only good idea was perhaps adding a bit more red symbol to the back but the red web cape is kinda shit imo. Anyway, yeah making Miguel a less nuanced version of himself and also making him the villain is Jewish as well as their misunderstanding/flanderization and lack of knowledge regarding Ben and how they intentionally or uintentionally sandbag him, otherwise his existence delegitimizes Miles's entire existence.Anyway, the most guaranteed animated kino would be a short film/series that adapts a comic arc. Perhaps something KLH, Sin Eater, Owl-Octopus, or something else. But putting that aside, I wish we had more artists nowadays who made shit that looked cool. Seems like all these underpaid latinos can do is put forth lazy or untalented shit but yeah, they're underpaid so who can blame 'em.
>>154050889I would say Superman saying "burn" or pic rel are better examples than what you posted. Doesn't have to be overly edgy but looking wholesome or inspirational is less likely to look "hard." Perhaps Superman 1 million or something where he is godly looking would make more sense if you're thinking of an image that is both inspirational and "hard."
>>154051024>I would say Superman saying "burn" or pic rel are better examples than what you posted.Speaking of...Ngl it does go hard, still one of the best Superman stories ever written, Alan Moore was cookin' with gas.
>>154051120Yep. Also pic rel and another cover are also classic ones. Zeck reached heights in the 80's I haven't really seen from anyone else across basically all comics.
>>154045097My favorite spidey aside from Peter. Miles is meh. Nice origin story but meh. Only good arc was his uncle and then they brought him to 616 because they dont know what to do with him and he has no rogues. It would be nice if Marvel could revive 2099 it was something unique.
>>154051382This is the other cover. I still wonder if Zeck was inspired by it.
>>154051431Trust me, we don't want more. Not if Orlando is on it again. Fuck that shit.
>>154051572Two questions: I have a vague memory that his bulge is noticeable in that movie. Is this true? The other question is, does Jim Carrey have that weird body quirk where he has like a large chest concavity and explains why his arms look so weird in that pic?

>>154051478Obsidian didn't do much in 2007 JSA but when he did he was pretty cool
Michael Golden and Frank Brunner Dr. Strange are pretty cool.
One of the "hardest" covers of all time.
>>154056350>>154056768
The image that defines Punisher for me, the cold, dead look in Frank's eyes.
One of the hardest fits.
>>154057079That he also kinda emulated later. Still looks cool.
>>154056114Moon knight comics consistently have the coolest covers I've ever seen, was a toss up between this and the black white and blood covers but this just went so hard. Also Mr knight > moon knight any day of the week
Anyway, I'll stop dumping. To end, the hardest image of Miguel imo and it's not even close. Perhaps there is one image where has the fangs out and is also drawn well in the costume as a piece of fan art but I can't recall if there is one. Anyway, any design of Miguel that strays from this image is kind of a waste.
Donald is the hardest one ITT.
>>154057172Mr. Knight can be cool but nah, Sienkiewicz Moon Knight IS Moon Knight.
>>154056582This issue’s fucking great btw everyone should read it
>>154057311Is it written by JMD and is there any clue as to why it is so good? I know JMD created Zarathos I think for Ghost Rider and had him fight against Johnny in an issue and I also know he wrote a Defenders run.
>>154057328It’s written by JMD, yes. Earlier into his run, probably one of my favorites from his (up there with the Seuss tribute and #101). I really should get back to reading the last bits of his run, but the space elf stuff sort of lost me and I was running out of steam after binging everything prior
>>154051478Man, god bless Ross for giving Alan the Emerald Warrior/Sentinel Armor thingy. Holy shit that thing is incredibly cool. And on the subject of going hard... Kingdom Come and Ross art does that pretty easily.
>>154057370Hmm...ok. I'm sure it gets trippy as that's a lot of what I heard about it. Ghost Rider in the 70's is not something I know much about.
>>154057370Oh, I forgot to give clues as to why it’s good. Putting them in spoilers just in case, even though they don’t really spoil much.>>154057328It’s about a demonic music performance and involves Blaze getting into a laser fight of vengeance with a dude in a ponytail. It’s technically part of a larger arc, but can probably be read standalone.
Thor vs Gorr goes pretty hard
>>154057432I would say the covers go especially hard. Even when parodied by Dexter's Lab, having all the characters look imposing and look down on you while in a shadowy room and one central figure is awesome. I like 1 and 2 especially. 1 because I think I saw it as a poster and couldn't tell it was DC, it just looked like a bunch of freakish characters who looked crazy and issue 2 because the juxtaposition of Norman versus all the of the godlike power behind him and the connection between him and Superman having to face all the people behind him who have to be convinced. Might as well be Norman having to hold back all of them.

>>154045097Jor-El being the one to come to earth instead of Kal is insanely underrated and should be done more. >>154069495Dunno. But the costumes being impossibly tight is one of those artist habits and western comic things I'm willing to ignore. Kind of the whole point since I believe Superman even in the simplistic 1930's art had pages or panels where you could see his muscles underneath defined way more than what realism allows. Or at some point that became case early on.>>154069596Dunno much Shazam but the covers of pic rel were cool looking.
>>154072704ok, fair
>>154062771Probably anything with Superman. Out of all Ross' Superman stuff, the work he did for Kingdom Come is as 'hard' as it gets

>>154062771Aside from the Captain Marvel/Shazam image I posted earlier, I think my favorite artwork of Ross' is picrel from Kingdom Come.
>>154075739Clark looks like he is unbothered, moisturized, happy, in his lane, focused, and flourishing.>>154064118Well I think the more subtle point is that maybe not paragons necessarily. He draws villains quite well. Very clean looking yet garish villains who have an intense look of anger or malice in their eyes. But there are certain characters like Spidey that I think he can never quite nail because the anatomy of certain characters is weird or the style is too unrealistic so he has to compromise in some way. I dunno maybe I'm wrong. I'm not an expert. Some effects like foreshortening with the webs on Pete's costume are also more effective in 2D art instead of a realistic painted style like Alex. Or it could simply be because he draws him too buff and also with a body that doesn't fit Peter. Peter isn't some barrel chested guy like Superman yet he still draws him like a strongman rather than an acrobat. Yes I know he has a decent amount of muscle but what I mean is the middle ground where he can contort and move weirdly as a gangly man yet just have enough muscle to still look powerful.Anyway,
Someone post the panel of Frank watching TV where the newscaster airs the footage of his family's graves getting oissed on and someone at the bar saying he's gonna go fucking berserk. That's a hard panel.

>>154077768Imo pic rel is the greatest Spider-Man piece of his because you don't see the realistic fat/dough around his chest area and the lighting is actually not overpowering the rest of the piece and the idea of the piece fits well, expressing the conundrum Peter always faces.
>>154048609Feet
This thread has many good comics. Too bad that not every cool page or cover comes from a comic that's worth reading, shameful bait. Pic unrel
>>154082823I'll bite. What are the ones you feel are trash specifically?
>>154083270Not specifically anon. But many mediocre or bad comics have kickass covers and pages. It's a stereotype of this medium
>>154083270This is a good example>>154077768
>>154083511That's kind of how capitalism works and how art works though. Not to be a jerk or a jew who apologizes for other jews but the faggots at the top know they will skimp out on whatever they can which means paying artists and writers less which means less likelihood of good creative output. And even if an artist or writer was paid a lot, it is unlikely they will be consistently good.So yeah comics have it a bit worse since comics have always had underpaid workers and clickbait covers in the 60's have been grandfathered into the modern covers we have now. Not apologizing for it but if you're gonna give me a vague answer then I'm gonna give you a vague answer with a bit more context and explain why that is the case to end this loop of you being vague like an ESL seeking to bait people.Anyway, yeah I wasn't the one who posted the Slott-era of ross covers. I hate that Ross design anyway. >>154083532I agree. But I don't really like the design and the lighting of the scene doesn't look too cohesive or eye catching when I have already seen his take on Johnny or the torch in general in other pieces. Boring cover.
>>154083618Anyway, samefagging here but here's a good cover with a good story that also has Animal Man looking hard as hell.
>>154083660>Animal Man looking hard as hellgay
>>154083618>seeking to bait peopleOh that wasn't my intention, sorry anon. I guess that what I was really trying to say is that it's a shame that not every story itt is great considering the art looks cool
>>154050968I think he looked cool but I 100% agree on his mischaracterisation. I think they just made him look bad to make Miles look good in comparison, the whole movie was practically a slap in the face to the comic fans that rejected Miles and loved Miguel. Also they could’ve given Miguel’s role to Superior Spider-Man and it could’ve worked way better
>>154067051Busiek/Perez was so cool.
>>154084432Yes anon I am quite merry and happy.>>154084505Ah but then you'd have to now put Miles next to Otto who quite literally stole Spider-Man's life and now the writers would have to confront the difference between the two and find that both are shitty concepts that are alike in how they puppeteer and masquerade as the character people actually like.
>>154084691Yeah that was already posted itt if you looked through it.
>>154045097these twothere was a two page spread in mutant x somewhere that had brute doing some science. it looked pretty radthe 90s morbius run had two 2 page stare downs. one between morbius and ghost rider, the other between morbius and the basilisk. those were both great too
>>154084859Kino… then we can boot Miles out of these fucking movies and make movies about Miguel, an actually good character!Jokes aside, I just think Superior works way better as a character that’s obsessed with Spider-Man having to live in a specific way like it’s dogma. Also, canon events are a shitty plot point because they work as a Pascal’s Wager.>Miguel is rightEveryone in Miles’ world dies>Miguel is wrongHe’s retarded and/or evilThat works a lot better for Otto. I can see him lying to the other Spider-Men for the sake of keeping an almost religious tradition of how Spider-Man has to live, it makes a lot more sense than “hurr durr my universe died so now I have to tell everyone else how to live because I think that’s how the multiverse works/I’m evil and I want people to make the sacrifices I didn’t make because I’m selfish” which is 100% where they’re going with Miguel. Also I would’ve swapped out the Spot with Morlun, no need to use all the Inheritors but come on Morlun is cool
>>154085101Eh I just don't like Superior in general and I wouldn't want a Spider-Verse movie to look anywhere close to a version that is like Slott's. Morlun should just be a standalone villain that is a mystical version of Kraven the Hunter like how JMS initially framed it imo. So yes perhaps he could be like Spot but Spot is probably going to be some mcguffin that is used to fix the universe as it is falling apart as way to show that Miles can redeem and help villains while also being able to save his dad. Some shit like that. Which is fine but Morlun doesn't fit that. But in the end, Miguel is being used to look wrong for being pessimistic when like you said it's a Pascal's wager as we as the audience are given info that is suspect and we have to just take people's word for it and Miles isn't given enough info to seriously doubt and be reasonable in his doubt or simply wait and ask more to Miguel about why the fuck is this the case?Anyway, Otto shouldn't be as dumb or weird like he is in Superior or his mischarcterization given by Slott. If he's so egomaniacal and thinks himself superior to both all other heroes and villains (one of his major character traits and flaws, being his ego) why would he not try to then create his own body after taking Peter's, kill Peter's body after transfering to his new one, and get the ultimate win? That's partly why I think Slott is a faggot. He doesn't think hard enough. He stops at the point that serves what he wants his book to be rather than the character.Besides that, 90's to mid 2000's Spider-Man is a mine for some kino images like pic rel. Something about the jagged/ragged eyes and painted look combined with the very dark city scape is integral to TAS but also to Spider-Man looking both friendly but also scary. A cartoonish version of New York that feels urban and yet larger than life. Sometimes for a character to look tuff, the setting also has to look tuff.
>>154085993It’s a shame, because the story would only NOT completely character assassinate Miguel if he ends up being right, but they’re clearly not gonna do that. He’s just a scapegoat for the plot and zoomers think he’s a bad guy now while they glaze Miles for no reason. I remember sitting down with people after the movie came out and I was the only one that agreed with Miguel (because assuming he IS correct he’d be saving millions, but again, if he’s wrong about the canon events, he’s either retarded or evil). They really just wanted to punish comic fans for liking one successor to Peter over another. And I get your criticisms of Superior, I just think he makes more sense as someone who would lead an army of Spider-people and also dictate a dogmatic view of what Spider-Man is supposed to be rather than Miguel, who was never even bitten by a spider and who was always a huge anti-authority character. Hell, I’m sure when the next movie comes out and people realise he was never bitten by a spider they’ll call Miguel a hypocrite. There’s already been fan theories that he’s an Inheritor because he’s vaguely like a vampire sometimes with the fangs.>everyone can wear the mask!!!1!1!1>but you’re not a REAL Spider-Man if you don’t follow the character branding to a THell, that’s pretty much what it is. The movie’s narrative says that being Spider-Man isn’t tied to commonly shared experiences, but rather aesthetics or powers, and since Miles fits the marketable aesthetics of Spider-Man more than (the far more creative) Miguel that means he’s not REALLY a Spider-Man and he shouldn’t have a say in what that is. God, it’s like these kids treat Spider-Man as a template for a fursona, or a Power Rangers team, rather than a character that has been reinterpreted many times.>Normal Spider-Man>Black Spider-Man>Girl Spider-Man>Weeb Spider-Man>Looney Tunes Spider-Man>Dinosaur Spider-Man
>>154086391>punish comic fansI remember some anons assumed it was to portray latino men as bad so they could delegitimize the segment of that demographic who voted for Trump or try to larp as whites. I dunno much, as it's all very unwieldy assumptions about swaths of people I don't know so I won't devolve into /pol/ stuff. But...>anti-authority characterI assume they either are informed by Edge of Time or they saw he becomes the CEO and then thought that comic fans were being chuds. But they forget he basically doesn't act like one and chafes in the role which is pretty kino and different for a cyberpunk setting to make the hero a religious figure that topples the corporation and then has to run it. You'd think Hollywood would leap at that story idea but guess they're incompetent faggots.>Miguel inheritorGoddamn I hate secondaries. >templatesI dunno if Deviantart autism or Tumblrshit is to blame but I assume those infested Twitter which then made Hollywood super aware of OCs and that's why we got all that shit in the comics where they showed fan designs in the spidergeddon books. Ugh....Also yeah, the movie dedicating dialogue as to what Spider-Man is and then criticizing fans who like 2099 because he goes in a radical direction in an AU that doesn't impact actual Peter Parker stuff as compared to Miles the parasite is laughable.
>>154086639I think the /pol/ narrative isn’t even necessary past the “comic fans like Miguel but not Miles because he’s black” point. I truly do think they made Miguel the bad guy because the fanbase rejected Miles back then and the muh subversion cretins in the writing room wanted to make a meta-commentary on the franchise, and it goes beyond Miles VS Miguel comparisons. The entire narrative of “you don’t have to make personal sacrifices as a hero because that would make you sad :(“ bullshit is part of it. Canon events shouldn’t just be arbitrary things that happen to every Spider-Man, every hero has failures or tragedies because that’s just life. The first movie understood this with the “save one person” idea from Jake Johnson Spidey. When faced with a trolley problem, you REALLY can’t save everyone. Hell, the PS4 game understood this when Aunt May told Peter to save the city even if it would mean she wouldn’t be cured of Devil’s Breath. That was a meaningful sacrifice. This idea that you CAN save everyone if you just REALLY want to and le evil chud just wants to keep you traumatised is retarded. Again, Pascal’s Wager: if Miguel is correct, Miles is being both selfish AND extremely reckless, putting millions of lives in danger. And if Miguel is wrong, he’s either retarded (Miles somehow understands quantum mechanics better than a 2099 super genius) or evil (he lied to everyone for his own selfish or misguided reasons). Hell, I hope Miguel IS right so Miles can learn a lesson the hard way, but they’re clearly not gonna do that.
>>154086391I will never understand the hatred that some people have on mayday, not the spider verse version i'm talking about the MC2 theres people in groups that would seethe about the existance of may because shes a far superior successor than miles.shes a woman raised by two good people decided to become a super hero because thats what a good person would do. All of this without having a forced shitty canon event.
>>154086968Miles is seriously just the “I AM A SURGEON!!!” meme but about Spider-Man. “I AM SPIDER-MAN!!!!” No, you’re Miles Morales and that will always be the name that shows up on the action figures and the Halloween costumes. No matter how many videogames Insomniac puts out or how many movies Sony puts out, Miles is just not a natural successor character. Spider-Verse 1 was the first and only time his character was decent and they immediately ruined it in the sequel.
>>154087055fr, idk why but bendis has this weird way of making his successor characters psycopaths. I havent read enough of Bendis to know if miles and riri are isolated exceptions but its bizarre that it happened twice.
>>154086917Yeah it's more like how Edge of Time had that one scene where Miguel is a little too narrow minded to think of a way to save everyone and Peter tells him he doesn't know the first thing about Spider-Man. I think Peter's main dilemma is kind of that where he wants to be able to say that all the time but he realistically can't and modern comics pretends we haven't had this same dilemma in Spider-Man or in superhero media in general.>>154087247I think he was just ahead of the curve on modern politics. Or perhaps he was one of those foot soldiers as corporations began to go down this path.
