You could incorporate something like the man having to work harder to pay for a subscription to make sure his "wife" and his son's "mother" memories/personality are not deleted, or the broader cultural impact of that this kind of relationship and its proliferation has on society and humanity as a whole.The above plot is relatively unique, very culturally relevant right now (AI companions are the beginnings of this), and thought provoking. It could tackle themes of human loneliness and alienation, corporate versus user control of software and robotics, what defines a soul, how children raised in such an environment would be different from ones raised naturally, etc. It doesn't even have to be dystopian, and it would likely be more subversive if it wasn't if I'm being honest.You could easily extract over a decade of weekly content out of this premise. It has the makings of a serious piece of fiction and not just a comic who's core message is a generic "corporations are bad" that has been done a million times already. And it has the perfect product to sell the idea since Emmy is legitimately cute and the community is actively making r34 style fanfic of her and other nandroids right now. Its just sad to see good potential squandered due to squeamishness.
