My biggest concern with this show is that it will have episodes with their own self-conclusive plot and each episode will have a different one.
It would be the completely wrong formula for the series, the pilot relies 100% on the lore, so the plot needs to be constant and shared between the episodes.

That is actually something that would work for the character design and their memorability.
Legit the issue most modern shows face is that they don't really diverge from a common design template and thus don't create truly unique character designs that genuinely stand out.

Look for example at Rango, the characters are hideous and yet they're recognizable beyond all doubt. You cannot confuse one for the other and if the Gaslight District follows this principle, it could legit make for some of the best character designs out there.
