>This November, superstar creators Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto reunite to launch a trailblazing new run of AVENGERS! The new ongoing series spins out of Avengers: Armageddon, the five-issue limited series by Zdarsky, Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar, which brings Earth’s Mightiest Heroes into a dramatically transformed Marvel Universe. Now, Earth itself needs to be avenged! A bold lineup of heroes—a mix of legendary Avengers, proven mainstays and wildcard newcomers—assemble to protect a broken world that has more reason than ever not to trust them. Once again, the Avengers take center stage in Marvel Comics storytelling, and it all starts here! >EARTH’S MIGHTIEST SURVIVORS! With the world order completely rewritten after the events of Avengers: Armageddon, a day unlike any other arrives, when a new group of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes find themselves united to avenge the Marvel Universe: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage and an all-new hero set to make their explosive debut soon!
>On taking the reins of Marvel’s flagship super hero team, Zdarsky said, "It's obviously a massive honor getting to write the world's greatest super hero team! And after what happens in Avengers: Armageddon, this lineup is angry as hell and ready to avenge.">"Avengers is a book that should lead the Marvel Universe, where big things happen and surprises keep hitting," he explained. "That's what Marco and I are doing with every issue and I can’t wait for people to fall in love with these gorgeous pages.">On reuniting with Zdarsky, Checchetto said, "Here we go again. Chip and I, assembled. We had a blast on Daredevil (2019), and since wrapping up Ultimate Spider-Man (2024), I’m thrilled there was an opportunity to do something new with him. It’s in moments like these where Chip's utter madness comes through, and the result is right before your eyes.">"I love this team," he continued. "It's going to be great to see these characters interact with one another and see how they untangle themselves from the situations we’re going to throw them into.">"It's amazing to be working with Marco again," Zdarsky added. "Time and time again he proves he’s the best at giving us the coolest possible versions of these characters and what he’s doing in this book is next level."
>Teasing the new run, Editor Wil Moss said, "Chip and Marco have come up with such an exciting direction for this new volume of Avengers, striking just the right balance of quality AND spectacle, of pitch-perfect characterization AND shocking takes, of a sense of legacy AND a true trailblazing spirit. Chip and Marco's Avengers is going to be the heart of the Marvel Universe going forward—trust me, you won’t want to miss a beat. Just wait till you learn the full roster…">AVENGERS #1 will be the next Marvel Comics launch available in True Believers Blind Bags, each containing an exclusive variant cover not available elsewhere—including one-of-a-kind, hand drawn sketch covers by surprise contributors! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more AVENGERS #1 announcements, including additional story information, variant cover reveals and more. >The path to AVENGERS #1 and the formation of Earth’s Mightiest Survivors begins next week with AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #1, on sale June 10.SOURCE: https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/avengers-1-assembles-earths-mightiest-survivors-november-2026
>>154063864Wow that team lineup sucks
So she cut her hair again.
The event hasn't even started and they're already showing us the ending. Fuck Marvel.
>>154063864So, the last member will be David?
>>154063864This might actually be the worst lineup ever put to page
This is literally just the Bendis line upWithout Steve, Tony and Spider Woman's ass
>>154063881>trust me, you won’t want to miss a beat. Just wait till you learn the full roster…So this isn’t everyone, then? I guess they’ll re-add Tony and Cap eventually? May as well throw in Spider-Woman while they’re at it.
At least Mackay had some old avengers in the team and Aaron/Hackman has the JLA feeling(which is why I think Aaron would do a better work in JL than Avengers)This shit feel like Bendis avenger. Hell why didn't he put Steve even though he is writing the character? Did he killed him?
>a dramatically transformed Marvel Universe. >protect a broken world that has more reason than ever not to trust them.
>>154063864>>154063870>let's start a street tier team and not tell Carol about the power limit
>>154064041Steve was placed in a coma at the end of the recent arc, with his soul being yanked to Hell by Doom
>>154064013How would an intentionally bad team go?
>>154064042Yeah, I bet you are cumming like a good Marvel goy.
>>154064058So she's going to get the usual Thor role and disappear for long stretches because she'd solo most the crap they fight.
>>154063864Why does Logan still have two sets of clawsThe ones on his right hand got smashed
>>154064088More entertainingly than this
>>154064069Seriously, all of this felt like Bendis era, the only different is that the one who was handle Steve was Brubaker and not the avenger writer.Wouldn't surprise that in the future Norman going back to be a villain turns into a Crossover treat between avengers, muggas and spiderman.
>>154063864>Bendisvengers of Street Level>Plus Carol with boy hair and another breast reduction>Fake "superstar" writer but if we keep saying it maybe you'll believe it>Not a single classic Avenger to be seenThanks, Marvel. I hate everything about it.We know they're not going to be allowed to kill Cap, Tony or Sue in this event, which means it's Falcon and Vision who are in the firing line.
>>154064134>Wouldn't surprise that in the future Norman going back to be a villainNorman being on an Avengers team while he's good would actually be something new and interesting, Marvel wouldn't do something like that when they can just try and get 2004 New Avengers nostalgiabucks.
>>154064175>Fake "superstar" writer but if we keep saying it maybe you'll believe itThis already looks like shit, but this is pure ignorance on your part. Embarrassing.
>>154063864Happy for Peter but this feels more like a street level team than an Avengers one.
>>154063864>carol back in her worst costumeHooray?
>>154064203This clown isn't a "superstar", don't be delusional. There aren't many "superstars" left in Big 2 comics, and 99% of the real ones were artists, not writers.
>>154064296You not liking his work does not define his popularity.
So who will be the new mayor since Luke presumably would have to leave out of conflict of interest? Mephisto? A clone of Rudy Giuliani made by Jackal?
>>154064320What popularity? Who in the world gets excited to see Chip Zdarky's name on a comic outside of his parents? This is a guy who managed to tank sales on Batman, something that's usually impossible.
>>154063936I hate it. Who the hell likes bulldyke Carol?
>>154064443Carolfags???
>>154064510Looking at their thread, it seems long hair Carol images are the most common of fanart posted, followed by shoulder length, and then short hair. So I think it isn't they like that look so much as just liking Carol and count that as part of her.
>>154064058This is why she should be the new Venom.
>>154064175>Not a single classic Avenger to be seen>CarolAnon??
>>154064586Die.
>>154064605That is actually Miracleman using a different name.
>>154063864This could go either way, but this does just feel like Chip wanted to do Bendis New Avengers but with Matt fully on the team now
>>154064175>>154064203On one hand I like some Chip shit (his spiderman work, some of his daredevil stuff)On the other hand, in less of a decade he has been on Batman, daredevil, Avengers, Captain america and a B tier Spiderman book. Feel like they pushed him too fast and didn't meet with the expectation
>>154064685Marvel not touching Miracleman with a ten-foot pole after the Gaiman accusations
Bendis called, he wants his New Avengers back
Bro Armageddon hasn’t even started getting into comics this is the most annoying thing
>>154064760He probably approves, and just says this needs 200% more Jessica.
>>154063864So the entire event is just being spun into this one Avengers book? Why not have another Avengers book with a more traditional cast?
>>154063864Sex with Carol>>154064443Me but I'm a butch lesbian
So Carol is still leading or are they going to try and pull another Monica with whoever the new character is>>154064865Dangerously based
>>154063864Checchetto is the wrong fit for an Avengers book, he doesn't have great action chops
>>154064877Carol said she was retiring from leading from the end of the last arc. So maybe Wolverine since he has seniority over everyone else.
>>154064902He has already worked on Avengers before though
I really hate we’re entering an era of Bendis Avengers nostalgia
If you take out Carol this is basically a Marvel Knights team.
>>154064605She wasn't around in the book much until 1998, anon, just a fairly short earlier run in the late 1970s. The kind of person who'd consider Carol to be a classic Avenger is the kind of person who'd think Tigra, Wonderman, Falcon and Hellcat are "classic Avengers". The cut-off point really needs to be before they just started letting anyone join. Black Widow is probably where the cut-off should be, when she officially joins in the early 70s after having been part of the book for years in the 60s.
>Bendis shitPass.
>>154064970Tigra and Wonder Man should be.
>>154064970Tigra, Wonderman and Falcon were in the Avengers United They Stand cartoonThey should count
>>154065002Jesus, anon, no. Neither of them brought anything worthwhile to the table someone else didn't already do better. They were just lucky to benefit from West Coast Avengers happening and getting the opportunity to be in a big long stretch of comics that happened well after the classic core members of the team were already defined. If they're "classics" because of West Coast Avengers, then so are Mockingbird, US Agent, etc.
>Hulk>Thor>Captain America>Iron Man>Spiderman>Wolverine>Xmen>FFWhich one is going to get relaunch in 2027?For me>HulkRelaunch after Infernal Rage.>ThorRight now Ewin run is around 40 issues, I can see him ending it late 2027 maybe with a relaunch in early 2027>Captain AmericaWouldn't surprise if Chip leave the book and another writer take it after a relaunch>Iron ManCould see it continue if Williamson doesn't leave like he did with GA>Spiderman>Wolverine>XmenThey will continue out of spite, maybe spiderman could have a relaunch after issue 1000 but I think they are gonna have Kelly run some more years.>FFNorth run has been enough, I think a relaunch in 2027 is likely
>>154065050Mockingbird and Julia Carpenter should also be classic Avengers
>>154065049They should count as classic Avengers because they were in a cartoon from the late 90s which few people watched and fewer people liked? That's not a strong argument.
>>154065071Thor and Hulk will at least since Hulk will be relaunch post Infernal Hulk event and Mortal Thor ending around July next year
>>154065071All of them.
>>154063864Spider-Man confirmed to be A-Ok and unchanged after ASM #1000.
>>154065174He will take off his mask after the end of issue 1 and be someone other than Peter.
So the mystery avenger is gonna be 9/11 cap with his 6160 sentry powers right?
>>154065306That is what you'd assume, but that they are playing it coy despite the comic setting him up already out and "newcomers" makes me think there is a second new guy other than him.
>>154065356Yeah but colton didn't have a hero name after the wolverine mini this could be his debut with a new name and powers
>>154064970She appeared in Avengers as a civ in like the 60s, she coints
>>154065303could be Khaine
>>154063864I'm not in love with this line-up but it still better than the dogshit DC is putting out with now with Justice League Unlimited.
I will never like Spiderman as an avenger
>>154065574I draw the line with Spidey being an honorary Fantastic Four member because Peter and the F4 are friends at a personal-level, and Doom's been an enemy of Peter's since the start of his career. Beyond that, I don't like seeing him as a member of any team either.
>>154063864>we had new avengers by brian michael bendis at homreRoster is too weak, bring back carol as warbird or miss marvel, and do somethign with daredevil better than the fear itself tie-ins issues.
>>154065174The only thing we know is that he might be getting some upgrades with Spider-Instinct/Clock-Up/whatever this fucking super mode is supposed to be.
>>154064970Any 80s avengers member is a classic avenger.
>>154063881>Chip and Marco's Avengers is going to be the heart of the Marvel Universe going forward—trust me, you won’t want to miss a beat.So Spider-Man and Wolverine are at the heart of the Marvel Universe? Nothing's fucking changed. That's like saying Batman and Superman are the heart of DC.
>>154065691Even Dr. Druid?
>>154063864Sounds pretty dull.Team doesn't look that exciting either.I assume the new one is the new Wonder Man.
>>154063864>No Cap (Sam)and DROPPED
>>154065676It’s just totem shit. Looks like Noir’s spider-sense and reeks of magic
>>154063864So this is just gonna lead up to the main Avengers reuniting, right? Its a "world is in ruins, grab the street heroes+Carol to help the regular folk. Shit spirals out of control, leading to a big damn heroes "we need Earth's Mightiest Heroes back together" moment. Thats gonna the overall vibe of this book. The big event that this will culminate in is the regular Avengers cast forming to take down the meta-arc baddie.
>>154063864>New Avengers + CarolMinus Carol, it's not a team I would mind reading about, but it doesn't really feel like an Avengers team, you know?
>>154065747No, he's saying that Avengers is going to be the main book driving the Marvel Universe forward again>>154066130Streets are speculating that he is biting the bullet in Armageddon
Does luke cage have a costume or what, is he just the only guy in the entire superhero universe that just always shows up in a T shirt for some reason?
>>154063864What a wretched lineup and with a bad writer on top. Good to see I can skip it.
>>154064443You aren't going to get a top billing beautiful blonde white woman with curves and long hair in current year. Because they hate actually selling books. Just be glad they aren't making her a incredibly unlikeable fascist cop again.
Every avenger should have at least 7 people in it
>>154066548Sort of. He's always been a boring character.
>>154066548His modern iteration is kind of defined by his characterization in the '00s and early '10s, the "plain clothes" era of cape comics.
>>154064707>This could go either wayYeah, it could be shit or it could be really shit.
>>154064970>Tigra, Wonderman, Falcon and Hellcat are "classic Avengers"I'd consider characters who had long runs on the WCA to count as classic or at least be around long enough to be heavily associated with the Avengers. Really any character who was around for a decent amount of time on one of the teams pre-Bendis counts. If they wanted Justice and Firestar on the team I'd be fine with it.
>>154064970I have Hellcat wishlisted for a spot on the next lineup of Midnight Sons so she's on break from the Avengers until then.
>>154067313>I'd consider characters who had long runs on the WCA to count as classic or at least be around long enough to be heavily associated with the AvengersAgree, is like considering Fire, Ice and Guy JL member because the JLI
>>154067450Has she ever actually been active as one? Like her tryout period immediately went to getting dragged to space by Moondragon, and was mostly in reserve appearances which lots of Avengers at once.
What's a good mix team of classics and newcomers for an avengers lineup? The 2016 series or the recent avengers assemble lineup
>>154063864>Its New AvengersBased?
>>154063892That's literally the New Avengers you uncultured swine.
>>154066464Carol was on the New Avengers.
>>154066811There will be 7 people once Tony and Cap return in a “surprise” reveal.
>>154067010has he worn that in the last 25 years though?
>>154067716>cap with spider-man moonlighting and 20 literal whosavengers really is a woeful franchise jesus.
>>154068204Not our problem Marvel has handled things badly in the 2010s and that you're a tourist that doesn't recognize who has been on the team in the past
>>154067716In theory I like the Avengers Assemble lineup for a mix of classics, obscure, and new roster members. Unfortunately like any time you see a book with a cool oddball mixture of characters it had to be written by Orlando so it was terrible. The MacKay book had the opposite problem of a competent writer forced to deal with a boring lineup he obviously didn't give two shits about. MacKay seemed to most enjoy himself when he got to write the Steve/Kate/Herc/Pietro/Hazmat team in Blood Hunt and that or the AA team should have been what he had.
What's the point of adding Spider-man to the Avengers if he's not paling around with Thor and Iron Man. Who really gives a shit about this New Avengers slop?
>>154070673>What's the point of adding Spider-man to the Avengers if he's not paling around with ThorThere's a big missed opportunity by not having Mortal Thor team-up with Spidey. Would have picked him over Carol.
>>154071009Mortal Thor might be over by the end of the event.
>>154071009Carol's the best part of this lineup though
>>154064013oh god no, this doesn't even have the threat that Dr Druid might be coming back
>>154067716Julie Power my beloved
>>154071127He'd have funny interactions at least.
>>154064970Hellcat is a classic Avenger. Mighty Avengers should be Hellcat, o-shit-the-Hank-McCoy-in-X-Men-all-these-years-turned-out-to-be-an-evil-LMD-this-here's-the-real-deal-back-again, Wonder Man, Wasp and absolutely humorless X-51-style Aaron Stack. Unfortunately, the jokers on any Avengers team for the past quarter century have been Spider-Man and whatever lame X-Men hard-sell editorial thought was a good idea, so getting a whole team of jokers with one straight man would be like reading a tax form. But we can dream! Dream big, anon!
>>154071212until Wolverine loses it and stabs him
>>154069599I've been reading marvel for decades, they're still literal whos retard, cope.
>>154071258>I've been reading marvel for decades, That doesn't say much
>>154063864>Avengers will be this team>Mighty Avengers will be "Avengers Classic" with Tony, Steve, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk? once Infernal is over, Natasha, Vision, and Scarlet Witch.>Percy will get Savage Avengers with Ka-Zar, Eddie Brock, Punisher, Elektrta, Wolverine, and Danny Ketch>Rainbow Rowell or Ryan North get Young Avengers with the original team + Kamala
>That lineup
>>154064970Wonderman is objectively a classic Avenger. Anyone that could be considered a mainstay from the 60s through to the 80s falls under that umbrella.
>>154063864can they stick to a carol design and haircut for more than 8 seconds for the love of Christ.
>>154067716I really liked the Assemble lineup, which is why it had to be a digital book written by Orlando
>>154063864I don't mind the team. What I'm most interested in is how fucked the general 616 universe is actually going to be post-Armageddon/QiB/DnX, then leading into the Infernal Hulk shit. Like, are we cancelling a bunch of titles? Seems like Venom is coming to an end with MJ at least losing the symbiote, but maybe dying or becoming QiB herself. Iron Man could end at 10. Cap's dead/in a coma. Thor's got a tenuous situation. Is this going to derail what's going on Kelly's ASM? Is it going to derail Phillips' Daredevil? Is it an "alternate" universe/timeline that doesn't affect current books? November isn't that far away.
Ok /co/, who would you consider to be a Classic Avenger. For me it's>Iron Man>Hank Pym>Wasp>Thor>Captain America>Hawkeye>Scarlet Witch>Quicksilver>Vision>Wonder Man>Black Knight>Hercules>Black Widow>Black Panther>Jarvis

I wonder if it's too early to speculate on where the last decade of Avengers (starting with All-New, All Different) will fit in the book's history. The lowest point is usually given as the period that started in 1987 after Roger Stern was fired. Some people (I among them) feel like the book got out of the doldrums when Bob Harras took over and then got bad again with "The Crossing," others feel like the entire period between 1987 and 1996 is a dark age.I think this era has been worse overall because All-New, All-Different was the first Avengers book that I'm aware of where every single member of the lineup had their own book at the time. They've tried several different approaches since then but in every case, it was an all-star lineup with no character development allowed. Even Larry Hama Avengers wasn't like that, and Larry Hama Avengers was very bad.
>After Armageddon>Miles isn't aroundDo they finally kill him off? It's not like Miles is in Cosmic Invasion, the MCU, Rivals nor Tokon. You would think they would make Miles part of the line-up post Armageddon given his role in that event. Not that I'm complaining. After years of trying and failing to make Miles cool, they're better off giving up and letting Peter have the cool shit.>>154073885>post-Infernal Hulk, Armageddon and Queen in Black NYCThat's three shitty events overlapping with each other. What would he be the mayor of? That city should be ground zero.
>Pic rel describes the entire western comic industry>Including indies that all focus on horror and sci-fi slop that are boring dumps of a character trying too hard to be likeable, a creator who espouses their boring life, or a comedy book that isn't funny>Wonder why I even show up to /co/ to see more garbage that will just make me mad>inb4 somebody hits me with the Scrubs memeYep. It's sad, I'd go to /v/ and now with SGF going on, it's more of the same. Rehashed remakes as well as uninspired sci-fi, fantasy, and horror garbage.Seems like media isn't it for me anymore bros. I'll run out of old media while the world runs out of resources, floods the third worlds, and then we all either die or have to sit through a really shitty era of the world.sounds like I'll have to AVENGE old media and people from the ARMAGEDDON we face now....;).....:(

>>154074913Gimmie THAT Avenger's team
>>154074164The Avengers have been awful for 20 years. Marvel in general has been a pile of shit since about 2004 but were mostly saved by DC being even worse. Jemas and Quesada had no real respect for the characters, teams, stories or anything that came before them but Jemas, at least, was willing to couple that lack of respect with a desire to actually experiment and try different kinds of books drawing from all corners of the MU (except cosmic kind of) or with new characters.Quesada, though, had the lack of respect combined with a complete lack of actual creative vision beyond whatever stupid ideas came to him like "Avengers should be big name characters" or "Spider-Man's marriage has RUINED the character FOREVER" and every decision he enacted damaged whatever group of characters he was enacting it on. Alonso ran too hard on trying to replace all the characters while Cebulski is a fat tub of shit who just stuffs pies into his face or something instead of doing anything and lets Feige and the suits ruin everything. The good stuff Marvel's had in the last 20 years is in spite of assholes like Quesada.
>>154075491Since most of the Avengers were in the Reborn universe, Danny's HFH effectively WAS the Avengers of that period. The book also crossed over with the Quicksilver ongoing that started after Onslaught. Tom Peyer was the 1st writer on Quicksilver but Ostrander took over that book too.

>>154074596Hopefully he stays there and fucks off forever.
>>154071127I would happily trade post-Civil War 2 Carol for Dr. Druid. Bitch managed to out-Dr. Druid THE Dr. Druid, somehow.
>>154065972By the 70s you start getting characters who join the team just for a few issues and never really come back for any significant time, by the later 70s onwards they start adding some characters who just kind of sucked and didn't add anything to the book, but evidently a lot of people are just considering anyone who was around before New Avengers in 2004 as being "a classic Avenger".I feel like there should be a cut off point, but it looks like the majority feels differently.Dr Druid was a dick, but at least he was bringing something new to the team I guess.
>>154074164>>154075074In fairness, The Crossing was an editorial-driven thing as part of Marvel's various desperate attempts across the Avengers and FF books to get attention and boost sales to try and convince the execs to pull out of the Heroes Reborn negotiations with Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld. Their backs were against the wall and they knew a lot of Marvel staffers were losing their jobs if Heroes Reborn went ahead, potentially even more if it worked and the execs decided to outsource even more books. The things people really hated about the Crossing, what it did to Tony and Jan, were fixed pretty quickly, the sad thing is the new characters and the Kang plot, the things that actually had some potential, all got thrown out too. And then Slott and Ewing did their own take on Mantis' son becoming a villain 25 years later in Empyre.>>154075591After being a top 10 book or just outside through most of Heroes Reborn and Heroes Return, Avengers had slowly declined in sales after Perez left in 2000. It was still usually a top 25 book, but Marvel wanted to reinvigorate the book, and the idea that Avengers should be only the "big name characters" was Millar's idea, Bendis backed him up, and together they managed to convince Quesada.Avengers has seldom been good since because it's not really Avengers anymore. Even when you have a passably 'classic' lineup like the last run, it's still following the 1990s Big 7 JLA playbook of being all plot and action and no soap opera and character-drama like Avengers used to have.
>>154064360>i know he wrote batman but that doesn't mean he has notoriety >>154064737Some of his stuff has been great and some of it has been terrible, but you at least understand that he has worked on big books.
